25/10/2023 10:54 | Indeed. I am particularly attracted to companies which generate cash, have net cash on the balance sheet and pay dividends. If they continue to do that, the share price will look after itself in the long run. RWS operates in a virtuous circle of growth by acquisition funded by cash generated. | jeffian
25/10/2023 09:37 | still generating plenty of cash, according to the update, works out at over 40m pa. mark down today seems harsh. | 1c3479z
25/10/2023 09:16 | Berenberg: "While recent trading has been disappointing, we do not see this as suggestive of business facing structural pressures: rather one affected by a range of one-off and cyclical factors that should soon reverse". | robinnicolson

25/10/2023 08:19 | AI is only a super data base! You'll know computers have real human intelligence, is when they can develop mental health problems. The AI mania, is just that, a bubble, it is the Emperor's new clothes. Don't fall for the hype. | bulltradept
25/10/2023 08:07 | Did you watch the recent RWS webcast on their use of AI technology? | robinnicolson
25/10/2023 07:50 | The fact that they keep trumpeting their AI development certainly implies that AI is a huge risk (opportunity for others) to their business model....or that's how I read it. | elsa7878
25/10/2023 07:47 | "FY23 Performance The Group expects to report adjusted profit before tax within the range of market expectations" Well this may be true ,but it is the other more negative narrative that has sunk the share price 20% this morning.Hard to put a value on this, and if you believe the last line, then this is an overdone fall. "we remain confident about the Group's long-term prospects." Hmm | wad collector

12/7/2023 08:42 | A significant acquisition seems to have stirred up the market this morning. But given that it is at a 7 yr low, there is a lot of stirring needed... | wad collector
14/6/2023 08:28 | Seeing the RNS about the buyback scheme reminded me of another reason I'm not keen. In companies such as RWS where a significant proportion of the shares are tightly held by directors and/or a few major shareholders (who are unlikely to sell), a buyback programme just decreases the free float, limiting marketability. | jeffian
08/6/2023 18:26 | Indeed, but it's about 13p/share if distributed to shareholders which would make a nice Special Dividend or return of capital. That's rather my point. It's real cash, but it will just disappear in a puff of smoke. In a year's time you'll have forgotten about it and have no idea whether it's "added value" to your shares or not. | jeffian
08/6/2023 13:32 | I think that it is impossible to predict with accuracy what the effect of AI will be on any company , a threat or a help, because it is evolving so fast. The combination of machines doing the hard lifting and humans fine tuning the results may be the current model, but presumably not for long. Good that RWS appears to be towards the front of the arms race at the moment. | wad collector
08/6/2023 12:18 | All very well to, somewhat frequently, refer to "AI" but in reality isn't that a bit more of a threat than a 'saviour' going forward? If so, perhaps a share buy-back could turn out to be imprudent or at least premature. | glavey
08/6/2023 10:17 | With RWS having had a narrow escape with Silicon Valley Bank (and given the strong ongoing cash generation) I am happy with these results and the proposed share buy back at these levels. There are encouraging comments about potential bolt on acquisitions, perhaps much smaller than SDL. Been a holder since soon after listing, so maybe my spectacles are rose tinted, but I am still supportive of Andrew Brode's judgement. | partridge1948
08/6/2023 09:49 | Agreed Jeff First buyback ever I think Frustration with low share price? Sign that potenial acquisitions are scarce -despite what they say? | phillis
08/6/2023 09:37 | Well I'm happy enough with the results but as I've said a zillion times on these boards, I'm not a fan of share buybacks. "should help to plug the leaky share price " In theory, maybe, but tell that to the shareholders of ETI (£8 > 25p) or WTB (£45 > £20). If they've got so much spare cash and don't know what else to do with it, give it back to shareholders either as dividends, return of capital or a scrip issue of additional shares so all benefit equally. | jeffian
