08/6/2023 07:58 | In the context of of the fall in the share price over the past 18 months I regard these results as very solid. As I have already said in an earlier post, the statement also suggests that AI is perhaps not the threat to the company that some have suggested. Also pleased to see the implementation of a share buy back which should help to plug the leaky share price | ygor705
08/6/2023 06:59 | How many times can you say AI in your results lol! | bulltradept
08/6/2023 06:58 | Not a great set of results.. | bulltradept
06/6/2023 18:42 | Ygor The acquisition of SDL set RWS materially on this road They are ahead of the game You need to understand the business a little better | phillis
05/6/2023 18:05 | I agree but the other side of the coin is that RWS have an excellent reputation of having highly skilled technical translators giving their clients the reassurance that the documents they read in their own languages are correct in every detail. After all, if it was as easy as that, why don't their clients just feed the stuff into Google Translate? (if you've used it, you'll know why!). The trick is getting the balance right between AI and human intervention. | jeffian
05/6/2023 17:53 | Results out later this week so another bit of jigsaw should fall into place. Interested by the comments here about AI's impact on RWS. To my mind Brode companies tend to be cost cutters "par excellence" and my own experience of using AI to date suggests that it will be a cost cutter's dream. Do not quite see where the potential threat to RWS is going to be on that front - but would be delighted to hear others views. | ygor705
22/5/2023 09:52 | You're right Jeff but same kind of thingAgree about Brode to an extentThe company must be vulnerable | value viper
22/5/2023 09:22 | I'm not sure it was "in takeover talks" was it? I think there was an expression of interest from a Private Equity firm which fizzled out without really getting anywhere. Chairman Brode's holding makes a hostile bid very difficult. | jeffian
21/5/2023 07:41 | If it was in takeover talks last year, what now at just 250p per share | value viper
20/5/2023 08:09 | I assume that the RWS share price has plummeted as a result of worries that AI may render their product redundant. Even though it can be thought of as a hurdle for the translation industry, automation is the foundation of RWS's approach. The group's unique machine-learning technology is used by the company's large translator pool to do machine translation post-editing (MTPE). MTPE helps RWS boost profitability and take market share by enhancing translation production and efficiency. Instead of endangering RWS, automation is promoting its long-term growth and resiliency. Thanks to its solid balance sheet, well-covered dividend, and potential for future margin growth, RWS is a dependable income opportunity. | casterd
27/4/2023 16:22 | I was wondering whether my additional purchase on 25/4 might be a 'falling knife' but it seems to have stabilised. | jeffian
26/4/2023 08:52 | Still a top stock for the quixotic but successful tipster Beddard | tim1478
25/4/2023 14:39 | Usual rubbish Will RWS survive? Crass question Think about the shares issued in the purchase of SDL | phillis
25/4/2023 14:26 | 'This is a never before seen environment' ==================== I doubt it. They certainly have not been coming clean about their business over the past 2 years or so. The share price (a 75% drop in 2 years) told you the actual story as usual. The situation is likely still worse than they are letting on. Wiil RWS survive? If they do they are now likely to be taken over very cheaply. How many times has one seen that scenario over the years with AIM stocks? | bend1pa
25/4/2023 12:04 | Yes Mat Definitely more competitive and more challenges than ever before This is a never before seen environment for RWS which has a much more complex business model than early days Still a good business though Let’s hope the second half gets us back on track Another miss on expectations would not be good | phillis
25/4/2023 11:20 | Well it would be statements like the following: sales contraction of 6.8%; softer activity levels; slower decision making amongst certain clients; reduced levels of activity; impacted year-on-year by the loss…; generally weaker trading conditions; reduced levels of activity; reduced demand from a number of our clients; more competitive procurement-driven tender processes; heightened risk of some revenue loss or margin impact; significantly more challenging in the last 12 months; | matczuk
25/4/2023 10:32 | In what significant way does today's announcement vary from the outlook statement in December? "Current trading and outlook · The Group's outlook is in line with market expectations6. · The current economic environment remains challenging whilst also offering opportunities to strengthen leadership in our markets. · Our unique capabilities, diverse end-market exposure and strong client retention continue to enable resilience. · Capex and investments are expected to be in line with guidance, with strong cash generation and a strong balance sheet positioning us well to make the investments announced in March, fund further selective acquisitions to enhance the Group's capabilities and geographic reach and to maintain a progressive dividend policy." OK, the market never likes to see the phrase "at the lower end of expectations" but it's not "below", which would signify that things were not going to plan. I don't get the 'Kitchen Sink' comments. What unforeseen problems have been added in the latest statement that weren't referred to in December? It's now trading on a PER sub-10, cash-generative and with a progressive sustainable dividend policy. My sort of share. | jeffian
25/4/2023 10:06 | I’m with Phillis on this… Pi$$ poor communication… Why wasn’t this flagged in last set of numbers? | cravencottage
25/4/2023 09:56 | Don't forget this from about a year ago even if no deal resulted at that timeThe Aim-listed tech firm, a specialist in language services, received an unsolicited approach from Hong Kong-based Baring Private Equity Asia Fund VIII (BPEA) last month. | value viper
25/4/2023 09:27 | Well, rightly or wrongly, I just bought some more...... | jeffian
25/4/2023 08:20 | Kitchen sink opp was in Dec Much too late now | phillis
25/4/2023 07:12 | Don't believe it is Kitchen sink, I believe that it is reality kicking in. red | redartbmud
25/4/2023 07:04 | Decline for the first time? | phillis
25/4/2023 06:55 | Looks like belated kitchen sink from Ian | toffeeman
