Is that a typo, don't you mean 60p? Looking like a placing in March.

Yes I do agree rmg are better than the other couriers, the only problem is Royal mail is more expensive so if rmg keep putting prices up is it viable for online retailers to use them? Also I don't think eBay gets as many customers as it used to, a lot people buy from Amazon and selling stuff a lot use cex and musicmagpie ect because of expensive fees and postage costs.

encarte, don't forget all the other mail that RMG have to carry for the 'last mile' at a fee way below actual cost. People wonder why the stamp goes up, it's because they are subsidising other commercial carriers and foreign packets. But you never hear the leftie press mention this inconvenient truth.

That is exactly what royal mail should do. Millions of small Chinese parcel arrive in the UK every week that royal mail have to deliver for free.

Donald Trump goes postal

"Trump plans to withdraw from a 144-year-old postal treaty that has allowed Chinese companies to ship small packages to the United States at a steeply discounted rate, undercutting American competitors and flooding the market with cheap consumer goods.

......."

Maybe China can contribute a little bit more to Royal Mail also

grahamite2, if the posties were offered arrangements some while ago then it's possible the recent slide was partly the result, and the book has indeed been managed? So is this the bottom?

One of the reasons I avoided them was the threat of nationalisation under Labour, however having drifted down to the flotation price at 330, it is becoming difficult to see sustained downside from here. And a rather attractive dividend. I'm tempted.

How odd! Here we are, the day has come.....and not a single post and the share price is going nowhere in particular.

Either the postmen are not the major issue some thought, or the book is being managed very carefully and skillfully.

Whilst the dead hand of government interferes in the operation of the company I doubt anybody would want it. Whether they could separate the parcels business from the mail I don't know. If they could, then it would become apparent (IMO) within days that the mail operation is unsustainable in its present form.

Need a US fund to take a stake and shake this up/break it up. Under float price, what a disaster, these old State firns uninvestable, having profits regulated away from them, massive pension problems and being political footballs. Another high div paying capital destroying ftse company. Serious problems ahead, 1.50/60 in a year or two.
