Post #1429 from thegrafter reminded me of the recent decision by Great British Niclear to shelve selecting the SMR companies on the basis the losers may sue the government.

How refreshing to read that RR will announce in the coming weeks their decision as to who will build the new office/manufacturing plant.

Let's replace Rishi with Tufan.

Simple Flying reiterates yesterday's story on Bloomberg of Korea Air's intention to buy A350s adding the following detail:

"It is no secret in the aviation industry that Korean Air is trying to merge with Asiana Airlines. The deal was first announced in 2020 and has not received all the regulatory approvals. Because of the pending merger and Asiana's fleet, which includes 15 A350s, it would be wise for Korean to choose the Airbus widebody for its fleet expansions. Asiana already has the structure for A350 maintenance and pilot/flight attendant training.
The same argument goes for the Boeing 787, as Korean Air has several in operation, but the 787 has a larger backlog than the A350, meaning new A350s would be delivered sooner. As mentioned above, Korean is already waiting for 27 Dreamliners, so expansion is coming soon with those aircraft, but others need retirement. Another option is to order the 777X, which, according to reports, is possible. A history of quality lapses and recent regulatory issues are deterrents for customers considering the 777X, which still needs to be certified."

This is different from what I had previously read, which was that as Korean Air would be the larger of the two airlines and the lead in the merger, it would continue to favour Boeing, and had been looking to more 787s or possibly the 777x.

Could this be one of the first direct order losses for Boeing following their recent problems? Also, could this reflect Rolls' improved ability to bargain for better margins on new orders?

A good read Skinny. I skimmed it - looking for how the Hydrogen will be manufactured. I was hoping to see Electrolysers and Power and such.

Making 'GREEN' hydrogen takes a lot of electricity (and water). We have the latter, but a bit short on the former.

A SMR or two would solve the power issue.
