I was going to edit the bloke on the right out :-) |
Listening to Starmer today it must be in the bag. Finance and timescales are all important.
It will take several years before the first station is up and running. At around 450mw per what will be the increase in RR. turnover and cash flow? |
Thanks Roger for the correction on the AUKUS deal. |
That is absolutely correct Roger |
If there are 8 available sites for SMRs the govt should award 6 to RR and only 2 to the US to keep them sweet. Build content should be at least 90% UK. |
I dont think so. Australia has purchased 3 Virginia class submarihes from USA and the AUKUS project will develop the UKs Astute class "SSNR" using RR technology to build 5 more submarines (termed AUKUS-SSNR) with increased Australian content for which Australia is developing a local supply chain. |
There are meant to be two companies awarded the initial build agreement. I think they are all US apart from RR of course. I suspect it would be unthinkable to not have RR as one of the two selected especially in light of the recent £9bn nuclear reactor contract for our navy's submarines.
I think the pressure from the Americans be applied in the AUKUS sub deal wherein those sub's will be powered by US reactors rather than RR's.
In a perfect world RR would be making SMR's on the back of the navy reactor deal as I'm guessing the technology is very similar. Economies of scale kick in and both our defence ministry and energy ministry reap the benefits.
Sadly, it's far from a perfect world. |
Perhaps he will seek advice from the President of Mauritius |
Fingers crossed they go for RR as it's the right thing to do unless Trump has Starmer by the nads with 3 US companies waiting in the wings. Surely he has to go British! |

PM to scarp red tape to build nuclear reactors.
"Build, build, build - that is what Britain's clean energy mission is all about," he said. |
Careful , we are all entitled to our own opinions, personally I think your talking dribble when you say SMRs are all priced in , but as ever we shall see |
Problem here is that with a market cap of £50bn all of the most optimistic assumptions about Mini Nukes are already baked into the price.
RR was only valued at about £7bn 3 years ago. |
Slight understatement ! |
Millie and is a waste of space. |
Anything new |

Radio 2 now..... SMRs |
Nonsense sm,rs |
Its more engines and service contracts they need, Sm,rs nonsense, 9bn just for sub contracts. |
