Anyway off for a scoop Stockport?Have fun following lol ?The Argies??The illegal government of the Falkland Islands extended for two years, until December 2026, all illicit oil exploration and production licenses held by Rockhopper Exploration.This oil company has interests in hydrocarbon basins located north and south of the Falklands, including Sea Lion, the most important field of all those surrounding the islands and which is estimated to have reserves of almost 800 million barrels of crude oil.In a statement, Rockhopper said that this extension of the life of the licenses was achieved "after discussions" with the government of the Falkland Islands, "so that the licenses will now be in force until December 31, 2026."This is not the first time that the Kelper government has extended Rockhopper's licenses since it granted it the first ones in 2010. The last time it happened in July 2022 for two years, until November 2024.At the time, the extension was justified by the fact that Rockhopper changed partners: Premier Oil, acquired by Chrysaor and transformed into Harbour, withdrew and left its place to the Israeli oil company Navitas, which was left with the right to two-thirds of the profits obtained when production starts.According to the latest update of the seafloor studies at Sea Lion, carried out by the specialized firm Netherland Sewell & Associates (NSAI), that field would contain 791 million barrels of extractable oil.The plan drawn up by NSAI foresees that before the end of the year Rockhopper and Navitas must make the final decision in relation to moving forward - or not doing so - with the exploitation. If it decides to continue, the first crude oil would be extracted at the end of 2026.
