Pierre as a poster pointed out a while back, you have a pile up on the motorway, they clean up the dead bodies and the debrie, then reopen the motorway, on the other hand you have a neclear accident, leave the dead bodies and stay away for many years....there could be a slight differance there...

No, I prefer leafy Surrey, and I don't think there are any plans for any nuke building there. But I wouldn't move away for any reasons of accidents etc if they did. The risk is tiny.

Twin towers has only happened once, but there are measures in place to make sure it does not happen again..... nuclear reactor accidents have happened twice with greater effect...should it happen in the states or UK these days that will be the end of nuclear energy....

This is not a binary choice between renewables and nuclear. Both will coexist and grow in the future - the former at almost certainly a greater rate in the long term. Serious nuclear accidents are rare - over the past 30 years there have been two major ones - Chernobyl and Fukiyama - so this is not such a major risk factor to deter growth in the form of nuclear energy and greater security is being deployed to significantly reduce future risk.

Well renewables have caused our whole electricity supply to be on the point of collapse, saved in fact only by schedulable generation from coal and nukes.So what you are saying but probably don't realise is that you want less nukes, more windmills and you aren't concerned that you'll no longer have electricity to your home. And that would result in far higher death rates than nukes ever did.

Dig's alarmism is correct. We have seen what the Ruskies did with Trump. If we get the Chinese to build our nuclear reactors using THEIR CHIPS we're asking for trouble.

I would go renewables.

If we have nuclear I would go with small plants not these massive massive ones they are doing now - that is INSANE!!!

Get rid of the tory nuclear power plants - they are insanity.

Well dig, I expect unfortunately that children are still being born with defects around Doncaster and Shepton mallet.You really need to dig under alarmist headlines and form view from unbiased data, and try to suppress your instant emotional response.It was a disaster of course and some unfortunate people died and some birth defects occured. But let's see what the actual numbers are, and balance that against the hundreds of millions of people who have benefitted and not died due to nukes. I expect you are against coalong, so perhaps think about the hundreds of millions of tons of coal which hasn't been burnt due to nukes.Do you drive? I expect just today in one day many more people will be harmed by cars than this by generating nukes during the whole history of nuclear power.

Can you imagine a Chernobyl style accident in the centre of the uk, there would then be a real north - south divide and scotland would have their indipendence without referendum!!!!

The only thing is it would displace around 10 million people and create a world disater... as the UK could not absorb a accident of this type, it is far to small, something like this happening in the uk would have an exclusion zone from manchester to stoke heading south and manchester to preston, everything in-between like leeds and liverpool you can forget them!!!

It only takes one accident ask the Russians or the Chinese!!! The UK does not have the land mass of the above countries....and there is a housing shortage today, add in another 10 million then the NHS, you would have to wait 12 months to get a DR,s appointment.

Should the wind be blowing strong on the day of an accident then that 30 mile exclusion zone may well increase....all to light a light bulb!!!

If Renewables were twice the price of nuclear I would be happy to pay the price, but the fact is the overall lifetime cost is miles cheaper!!!!

This after Germany’s Bundesrat has passed a resolution to ban the internal combustion engine starting in 2030, Germany’s Spiegel Magazin writes. Higher taxes may hasten the ICE’s departure.

An across-the-aisle Bundesrat resolution calls on the EU Commission in Brussels to pass directives assuring that “latest in 2030, only zero-emission passenger vehicles will be approved” for use on EU roads. Germany’s Bundesrat is a legislative body representing the sixteen states of Germany. On its own, the resolution has no legislative effect. EU type approval is regulated on the EU level. However, German regulations traditionally have shaped EU and UNECE regulations.

redT will be spoiling the party for all of them, most flow battery coy's are hoping to touch $300kWh by 2020, even those using dual or other chemicals.

redT are already at $490kWh with the system retaining a third value, net cost $323kWh.

Next generation product is estimated a third off today's system, that's for 2018, we then have generation 4 that will have further cost savings launched end 2018, generation 5 end of 2019 with further savings....

Ahead of the competition? I suspect they are all scratching heads wondering quite how we sneaked up and achieved what we have, Jabil of course are not, they did their DD and approached redT asking to make our product on our behalf.

No but I put this years SIPP allowance in at the normal market price (about 8.6p) which is looking pretty good already. Have had a load of these for ages (since early Camco days) at an average of 4.3p, so its getting quite exciting for me. Bobby do you know if Skippy is still invested here - haven't seen any posts from him for ages. Agree about the other thread. There's too big a contrast between the manic posting and RedT's calm, low-key approach for me.
