>>Surely if they wanted to do what you are saying they would be sending the opposite signals ..>>

And not buying their own shares.

"This has all the feel of being deliberately run down before being taken private - and then relisted 3 years later at 3 times the price."

huh this sounds like nonsesne to me - updates from the company have been clear transparent and pretty much on the money - they are outwardly exuding confidence not the opposite. Surely if they wanted to do what you are saying they would be sending the opposite signals

Directors dont move the shareprice the market does - if there are worries about material drops in residual values of vans that explains recent share price weaknes.. Where on earth would the board get the moeny to take it private?

Even if they tried sharehoilders ultimately choose what happens.

Have a look at the last 50 or so posts on the PAYS thread. Absolute scandal. The CEO recommending the offer was the guy who counted the votes!

Seen it happen before - a seemingly flourishing company generating cash hand over fist having its share price walked down for no apparent reason whatsoever for 6 months and then, lo and behold, an offer recommended by the board to take it private comes in at a derisory price. Three years later, back it comes on the market.

swiss - share buyback will always polarise people. I am 100% happy company is buying back shares at current levels. Share buybacks will always be looked upon as good or bad value based on future trading prospects if the company does well share buybacks should be good value with p/e of 7 or less - infact complete no brainer to some if they are comfortable with debt. Just look at next for example of how share buybacks over the long term can materially boost eps. If you think shares arent good value then one can sell part of ones holding.

why oh why do they carry out share buybacks - and to make it worse its always at the top end of price. Only ones whom consistently make money in this shennanigan are the brokers.

Redde Northgate’s share price has been on a rollercoaster over the past few years, and there is still a lot of uncertainty over the supply of vehicles and the electric vehicle transition. However, we like the fact that demand is robust, margins are stable and headwinds seem to be easing. The share are also very cheap, trading on a forward price/earnings multiple of just 6.8. Buy.

I think the comment about extending contracts (or words to that effect) with 500 independent workshops points to the synergies it would see with halfords. I’m happy that it didn’t go ahead though.

Share pretty much covered by tangible NAV.

Think their modest beat will be conservative as the forecasts only predict circa 21p underlying eps for H2, which is a significant reduction to H1 and 24% lower than H2 last year.IMO at least 10% above their mean eps forecast of 54p could be on the cards, what's "modest", 5%, 2%?.

Nice update:With visibility of earnings underpinned, the Board is confident on the outlook for H2 and now expects to be delivering earnings modestly ahead of market consensus on a full year basis.

Wow just got down to this line

"the correction of errors identified in the goods received not invoiced
("GRNI") reconciliation process at 30 September 2022. "

WTAF !

That is BASIC accounting. Its so basic that getting that wrong at any level (even one branch!) is seriously
unforgivable!

Did the FD get sacked ?"

If Halfords cannot do the absolute basics - how could Redde merge at nil premium to that micky mouse outfit ?
