09/6/2017 10:09 | I meant it had been good for randgold not gold.... | jaji2630
09/6/2017 09:45 | Yes, but it hasn't "pushed gold up". The gold price has fallen as the outcome of the British Election is not seen as a global risk. Gold price is hopefully bouncing off support at 1270. We shall see. Randgold is up because the pound is down and foreign investors pile into FTSE companies with global income when the pound goes down. Im 50/50 on the short term way forward for Randgold. I hope that the gold price is bottoming out and will rise through 1300 and onwards to 1400 in the next months. However, if it goes the other way I have a trend line for the gold price at about 1235 and below at 1225. That would in my opinion be an awesome buying opportunity. Alternatively we may just go up from here. Interesting times. | gilesgraves

08/6/2017 09:47 | Gold Price Breaks Out Yesterday, gold broke a nearly six year-long downward sloping trend line that goes back to its all-time high of $1921 in August of 2011. Gold has not managed to cross above this trend line, currently at around $1280, since then, although it has come close a number of times including as recently as last April. Today's breach of this trend line is likely significant; historically, breaking above a five year long downward sloping trend line has signalled major bull market moves in gold (30% or more) including 2001, 1993 and 1985. One of the better indicators for gold is the ratio of the price of the U.S. 30 year Treasury bond to the U.S. Dollar Index. Gold rises and falls with this ratio because it encapsulates two important factors driving the gold price. When the dollar is falling while the bond is rising (and rates are falling), as we see currently, gold tends to rise. A strengthening dollar and rising yields—as we saw after the Trump election—gener more here | christh
08/6/2017 08:28 | Once we are past a gold price of 1295 I am happy only because of this idea that a head and shoulders pattern has formed on the daily chart. On to 1307 then 1400 and taking RRS with it. Unfortunately a conservative win I think is likely to bring the gold price down or at least keep it pretty much level (hopefully remaining above support at 1275). A labour win would instantly jettison us all into some kind of RRS hyperdrive warp speed to 11500! Either way the media will dramatise the Brexit negotiations so much that this should push the gold price up and up through the summer. | gilesgraves
06/6/2017 21:36 | Was going to criticise someone here in the last week or so .... as they thought there might be an inverse head & Shoulders forming. (Usually found at the bottom of big Dips and taken as a reversal pattern) Glad I didn't ... because oddly enough ... that is what it could be.. very rare to see in a rising trend ... and positive if so .... Next stop £90. at least ... To paraphrase CI ....... 'Go On Ya Beauty' .... PS ... singsong ... .... Gordon Brown was a Labour Chancellor wasn't he .... Sold all the countries Gold off at less than £300 an ounce... That's why your children will be paying for your Care Home... All that Tax .... and nothing to show for it .. So long as mine aren't Muppet.... | k mon
