Suspect Shroders will be back buying more although the 'drop' is on pathetic volume so only will have shaken numpty retail punters like rivaldo.

Net Cash was c.40m euros at year end. We've just had confirmation net cash will remain strong and Company are delivering increased production and reducing costs whilst also selling inventory at higher prices with improved industry pricing outlook for 2nd half.

Expect we will also get some Director buying at some point.

Due to be more cash from contract settlements in the near future as well.

All looks good for another run in these soon. Shaking the weak hands out is the necessary prerequisite for that.

Hmmmm. Glad I sold out at well above 25p.

Looks like it'll drop/drift for some time now. May be worth a look again in the autumn.

Note how they put out all the 'negative' industry stuff before moving on to their own 'positive' news and the 'positive Industry outlook'

Is the cash position comment a disguised upward profit warning ? i.e. cashflow going to be better than original expectations ?

PV Crystalox Solar PLC ("the Group") announces its Interim Management Statement, in accordance with the UK Listing Authority's Disclosure and Transparency Rules, for the period from 1 January 2014 to the date of this announcement.

PV market conditions remain challenging with pressure on pricing resuming in recent weeks following the modest recovery seen at the beginning of the year and during the latter part of 2013. Weaker internal demand in China has renewed the global oversupply of wafers and driven down pricing, reversing most of the gains seen earlier in the year. Pricing remains below industry production costs as polysilicon, the key raw material, has maintained most of this year's increase and currently trades well above its price at the end of 2013.

As previously indicated in our 2013 annual report, the Group has made progress in reducing internal production costs allowing the Group to increase production output in order to consolidate relationships with existing customers. During 2013 shipment volumes were boosted by sales from inventory and doubling production output during the first half of 2014 has enabled these volumes to be maintained. Wafer shipments during the first half of the year are expected to be in the range of 95-100MW (2013H1: 84MW) which is broadly in line with the increase in output.

The Group continues to negotiate with its polysilicon suppliers and has achieved adjustments to pricing and volumes under long term contracts. Polysilicon volumes, in excess of wafer production requirements, have been successfully traded in order to maintain inventory at appropriate levels.

An improved market environment with a reduction in oversupply and more favourable pricing is expected in the second half of the year as the rate of PV installations in China accelerates to meet the 14GW national target for 2014. The Group's financial position remains strong and the ongoing cash conservation strategy is expected to maintain the Group's healthy net cash position throughout the year.

REC Silicon quarterly results today. Not much readacross as they are upstream polysilicon and silane producers. Comments on pricing generally positive.

CCE offers a very compelling solar story as well by the way.

Building solar projects in South Africa which has excellent sunshine and producer economics.

Developing potentially gamechanging Energy Storage technology which could make solar competitive with grid power on reliability/availability as well as cost.

After a very strong Q4 and Q1 for wafer prices recent weeks have seen a slight retrace.

To be expected as we go into the Summer time where sales cycles extend due to holiday season etc. Expect a build up again for Q3/Q4 so late summer.

Prior to that I expect windfall contract settlement news from remaining long term unresolved wafer supply contracts. That could be weeks rather than months.

Salvation Gets Cheap

APRIL 17, 2014

Paul Krugman

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which pools the efforts of scientists around the globe, has begun releasing draft chapters from its latest assessment, and, for the most part, the reading is as grim as you might expect. We are still on the road to catastrophe without major policy changes.

But there is one piece of the assessment that is surprisingly, if conditionally, upbeat: Its take on the economics of mitigation. Even as the report calls for drastic action to limit emissions of greenhouse gases, it asserts that the economic impact of such drastic action would be surprisingly small. In fact, even under the most ambitious goals the assessment considers, the estimated reduction in economic growth would basically amount to a rounding error, around 0.06 percent per year.

What's behind this economic optimism? To a large extent, it reflects a technological revolution many people don't know about, the incredible recent decline in the cost of renewable energy, solar power in particular.
