31/3/2014 09:07 | It's gone very quiet on here this last week!!!!! | outfly
24/3/2014 20:11 | Or it might have been some moron tipster comment ? Shining bright Solar-wafer manufacturer PV Crystalox Solar (PVCS: 25.75p) has delivered the financial results I was anticipating when I recommended buying the shares in my 2014 Bargain share portfolio. They also fully justify the 33 per cent rise in the company's share price in the past six weeks. | stockonomist
24/3/2014 20:10 | Was the sun out so solar stocks got bid up ? Were Mad Dogs and Englishman out buying PVCS stock ? | stockonomist
24/3/2014 14:58 | What happened at Mid day? | zcaprd7
21/3/2014 18:18 | at this point in the cycle PVCS will be wanting to remain cautious at least for external consumption they don't want more Companies entering the industry or old ones hanging around in hope of a quick upturn to rescue them from their heavily indebted balance sheets/inefficient operations | stockonomist
21/3/2014 17:34 | What a great set of results I think I will add a few more. Looks very positive to me as a long suffering long term holder :) Market cap almost fully backed by cash post special dividend and profitable again. Impaired assets dealt with and business focused on what made it very profitable in the past. The original listing itself was to build the poly factory, unfortunately despite a lot of hard work that never really took off. Now that they are back to their main specialisms I expect they can really build on that despite what they have been through. Solid long term customer relationships, well managed strong balance sheet and specialist technical expertise is a a great combo. With their existing relationships as well as the growing global opportunity from the recovering solar sector things could get very interesting in terms of new and existing market opportunities. For me one of the key value points to PVCS has always been the EBT and management with strong share interests in the business. What I was most amazed and impressed by though with PVCS is the solar market crash the company has survived. It was unprecedented in its scale and all the staff/managements hard work to do that should be remembered and praised by shareholders. To pay a dividend, have contract claims with value left in them, survive this downturn, reduce surplus inventories to optimal levels and even deliver a return to profit and operating cash-flow is seriously impressive result. Whilst it's unlikely the solar sector is going to return to previous highs (although in commodity markets like this who knows?) even a small recovery well managed could produce disproportionate gains in the company's market price. It doesn't take much imagination to realise what this business can do with a following wind rather than fighting against a force 12 hurricane! I'm hoping it gets a favourable market in the next few years and recovers properly as I believe it deserves to. | brennymcl
21/3/2014 06:02 | Presumably one is holding as a recovery play.It is apparent the darkest days are over and the future is starting to show green shoots of recovery. | j777j
21/3/2014 00:46 | They don't expect profitability. Cfo leaving and not being replaced . For sale sign. Someone can buy it now... | zcaprd7
20/3/2014 23:53 | - PV Crystalox Solar, which provides photovoltaic silicon wafers for use in solar power generation, moved back into the black, posting underlying profit of £5.5million compared to last year's £25.6million deficit. The group, whose customers are primarily solar cell manufacturers in Asia, says an improved cost structure will allow PV to increase production and win new business. The sun set on PV's stock at 25.5p, up 0.12p. Read more: | stockonomist
20/3/2014 17:13 | Good point Tomrob:I wondered what had happened to inventory. In the same way as things pick up cash may be used to increase working capital and thus reduce. Overall though things are clearly getting better. Despite the negative Footsie I topped up today seeing this as a medium term hold. | scotch broth
20/3/2014 16:00 | All things considered I continue to hold but one note of caution in response to Stockonomist 20 Mar'14 - 07:18 - 5848 of 5859 1 0 Positive Profit Warning !!!! Better cost structure allowing DOUBLING of Production this year !!! Doubling production isn't going to double revenue since "Revenues of EUR71.4 million...... included wafer shipments and the trading of surplus polysilicon " "Wafer shipments of 211MW(1) were....... also higher than our production output as the Group took the opportunity .......... to reduce inventories to normal levels." Inventories reduced from EUR 38,426,000 to EUR 13,009,000.I can't see any indication as to whether sales prices achieved were equivalent to their valuation on the books but in any event it must have been a significant slug of the revenues. | tomrob
20/3/2014 12:10 | Hopefully Simon Thompson will reiterate his Buy recommendation for PVCS: "Simon Thompson recommendation PV Crystalox Solar (PVCS) has announced solid full year results after a tough time in 2012. A cash conservation strategy was implemented through 2013 which appears to have worked given that the business returned 36m to shareholders during the year and ended December with 39.2m in net cash. Meanwhile shipments of solar wafers totalled 211MW, up from 115MW in 2012 which produced earnings on continuing operations of 6.6m, up from a 30.7m loss." | rivaldo
20/3/2014 10:11 | Mary, What does 'GET OT WHILST OUT CAN' mean? I know your Welsh but that isn't Welsh now is it? Preferred Sandy Shaw m'self. At least she knew something about share trading. | thaaarg

20/3/2014 09:28 | Some points. I The figures are in Euro,so knock 20% off for pounds. 2.The earnings per share figure has used the average shares in issue of 383 million whereas after consolidation the figure is 160 million. The year end figure would be 1.7 times 383 divided by 160 equals 4.06.Minus 20% for Euro equals 3.2p. The profits are almost all in the second half. The shares still look cheap but in a high risk sector. | scotch broth
20/3/2014 08:57 | With the market valuing the company at just £41 million , these numbers are pretty good. Plenty of cash , with a hope of settlements cash to come. | cyan
20/3/2014 07:38 | Have to say - these look good results and an even better outlook. Certainly better than I'd expected, with 4.4 million of operating cash flows for a start. Amusing to see that having reduced staff from 299 to 88 at the end of 2013, PVCS are now recruiting production staff! They must really be optimistic at last. Plus settlements are expected with administrators for PVCS to receive sums in the next 9 months... Excellent. | rivaldo
20/3/2014 07:37 | Gross Margin looks excellent. Well ahead of my expectations. Think the Company could become very very profitable if market recovery continues. | stockonomist |
