The competition commission destroy the whole market, PFG and others do not make that much money as it is.

I am glad that I sold at over 680p

Latest Competition Commission report doing PFG (and CTT) no favours

..Six large lenders (five of which are quoted companies) account for
around 90 per cent of the market. Of these, one, Provident Financial plc
(Provident) accounts for well over half of the market on most measures...

..the CC will consider imposing price caps-which would
directly address high prices resulting from lack of competition for a limited
period whilst other remedies take effect...

That's a very well informed and reasoned argument. You don't think the loss was already factored into the price and it is rising on outlook?

Heh. Oops indeed. Well, congrats to those left holding. I certainly don't begrudge PFG it's rise today, even if I sold out earlier. Shorters got what they deserved with this one.. honestly, 6% divi and already a lot of -ve sentiment, regardless of the fact that Provvy has been one of the most consistent earners in the FTSE 350 over the last 10 years. What did they expect?

the year.

Group outlook

In recent years the small sum credit market in the UK has become increasingly
competitive. We have responded by raising the efficiency of our UK home credit
business and by improving the service we offer our customers. We have clear
plans to continue to improve our operating efficiencies and our service to
customers and so we expect this to remain an excellent, cash-generative
business.

We have also sought new opportunities for growth by expanding into overseas
markets and broadening our range of credit products. International expansion
has already been very successful and created substantial shareholder value and
we expect the new credit products delivered through Vanquis Bank will also add
to shareholder value.

We expect the group will remain strongly cash and capital generative and that
this will continue to support our progressive dividend policy.

We see excellent prospects for continued international expansion in existing
markets and in new countries. However, our successful organic growth model
involves investment start-up losses which depress short term profits. We are,
therefore, at the early stages of considering whether obtaining a separate
listing for international, in due course, would allow the international growth
opportunity to be captured more quickly. The aim would be to maximise
shareholder value in both the near and longer term. We will provide a further
update on the results of this review with our interim results in September.

I agree evilwebby I just sold out of CTT for the same reason. Results coming up though and with the serious divi of these two it may not fall back far until spring or summer which might be a better time to buy.

I sold out today. Think I will be able to buy back cheaper later. Cash heavy at the moment, as I think the markets are very toppy (but then I've been thinking that for the last couple of weeks).

A little tick up, I asked those more exoperienced to take a look at the chart last week when we reached 610, I thought that maybe heralded a breakout. I was told no it doesn't, did not buy any more and lo an behold it fell back.

Only thing I've seen recently is Robbie Burns ("Naked Trader") has opened short spread bet, target 550.
Does he have much of a following? Hope not!

Confidence returning, confirmed by CTT's recovery. A couple of the best value shares in the FTSE-250 right now.
