Turvart, yes, a real stick in the mud, but under the current circumstances, perhaps they feel vindicated. Hedging their own stake with a short....can't even call it a binary option!.

A while back I read this Questor piece:

In it, "A big step was taken when creditors approved the changes by the required majorities on Feb 12. This was despite the opposition of a hedge fund, Asia Research & Capital Management (ARCM), which owns a significant amount of Premier’s debt."

Let's see how they play it.

Thankfully Brent has recovered a shade and hope we see a reversal.....along with some good vibes on Covid-19.

What the markets have not taken into consideration either about the oil market and current price is Saudi could be a strong target for attacks far worse than previous.

Crude oil surges on rumors, but backs off
There are some rumours that Putin has instructed Novak to engage in Saudi Arabia in talks. That is the basis of the sharp run up.

We are currently giving up the gains with the price currently trading at $25.66. I guess the rumours don't have much credence, but it hard to tell the market to ignore the price action (PS liquidity is also limited)

Thanks for your input Turvart and andypop1. Reading on lse, peeps suggest the judge doesn't need to pass 'judgement' immediately at the end of the hearing. However, if 'she' did then it would've reached the media by now. We may get an RNS in the morning 10:30 ish to confirm 'await decision' within 'x' days. I doubt any compassion will play any role in this.

As for ACRM's short position. Well, they have us by the short and curlies barring a favourable decision in the court. They don't need to play the poo v PMO share price Need backing from other Insti's.

I only have a small speculative holding here. IMO, a great recovery potential, but players like ACRM make me nervous. hence a limited exposure. GL.

Fict,
The hearing took three days, the fact the Judge could not make a decision today suggests ARCM put a strong case forward.
Whatever the outcome shareholders will feel the pain over the coming weeks because neither option is very palatable.

I've not heard of any specific help for the oil industry and to be honest it would be political suicide given there are much more “popular“; sectors that will struggle to cope over the next three months or more, you do know we have to answer to the environmental snowflakes don't you?

Fictitious1,

Yes you have a good point. If I was in ARCM position I would certainly drop most of the short now, IMO there is far more upside than downside from these levels.

ARCM say they put the short on to hedge their investment well now must be a good area to offload a few and bank some profits and maybe short again at a higher price, would make better sense IMO.

Have to hope for a compromise of some sort. At the time of making a legal challenge the environment was entirely different and imo has only strengthened ARCM's case. The fact that the hearing only lasted 2 says suggests both sides conceding ground?.

I'd be more interested how PMO move forward and whether ARCM will maintain a hedged position. Not sure if any gov't support will be forthcoming for oilers.
