That US party surely has to spread to the smaller caps here....surely!

If it does, then this trend should hold. It looks like we're trending here. The 10 year gilt is getting clobbered, down at 3.69%.

What is the magic number before flows change and folk start piling into the smaller caps?

A little stream of buys coming in here so hopefully continued short term momentum.

All imo

Its good to see the share price moving north, but even 75p would leave me badly down, and a good many years at a 6p dividend from getting me back above water even on a total return basis. Bad timing, but it looked cheap at the time....

Some you win, some you don't. Onwards and (hopefully) upwards.

Peel Hunt: Premier Miton offers upside after dividend cut

Asset manager Premier Miton (PMI) is facing a ‘hostile’ environment, but is still profitable and rewarding investors with a smaller dividend, says Peel Hunt. Analyst Robert Sage reiterated his ‘add’ recommendation and target price of 75p on the funds group, which slipped 1.6% to 61p after unveiling a more than 60% drop in annual profits from £15.7m to £50.9m. It also cut its dividend with the total payout for the year to September falling from 10p to 6p per share.

Sage said the profits were 7.5% above his forecast with the bottom line boosted by variable costs falling 44% to 14.5% of revenues. Meanwhile, a "yield of nearly 10% should support the shares. Although the environment remains hostile, the business is healthily profitable and rewarding investors through dividends. The 9.7% yield and low earnings multiple – the full-year 2023 price/earnings is eight times rising to 10 for full-year 2024, which we expect to be trough earnings – allow for upside.

@stemis
Your bare numbers are probably correct but remeber AUM is calculated at market prices of assets, so unless you think the market is still falling why would you even be thinking of buying an asset manager ?
My view is that every fall has brought us closer to the bottom & am now thinking we have seen bottom, in which case PMI gives investors gearing on the way up as well as the reverse on the way down.
If you feel we are not yet at bottom shouldn't you be looking at gilts not equities ?

They keep rolling out that statistic, but it's 3y performance numbers that are key (and perhaps 5y numbers) and these are pretty poor. Performance since launch or fund manager tenure will always be massively skewed by survivorship bias (ie poor funds will be closed, while poor fund managers replaced).

"Strong investment performance with 73% of funds in the first or second quartile of their respective sectors since launch or fund manager tenure."

Really? So 73% make the top half. 27% are in the bottom half.

Very impressive volume today, I wonder if there is a research note out on them ?
Nevertheless this buying must have mopped up a lot of the perennial sellers.

Bmcollins,

As far as I can see, this pop higher wasn't from a research note. There was some commentary around BRK, but there was next to nothing volume in that too, so no influence here imo. I think it was about 2k in total exchanges when checking BRK.

This short term move alone is pretty much all based on enough sellers being cleared at these price points close to 50p - value seekers, technically oversold, rates falling, sentiment slightly improving out there, buying ahead of the results on the 5th December, short termers realising an overhang at these price points is coming to an end/gone....combination of all the above?

There was a couple of delayed prints of 461,546 and 400,000 @50p that flagged on ADVFN at 12:00 on the 14th November. I suspect these were the final clearouts of the sellers at that 50p level. So we had a 12% pop and then abit more, followed by a small pull back that got bought up. Now watching to see if this can breakout higher from here.

Someone has come in for a couple of 100k blocks at 58p and the price has just stuck its head above the 50 day moving average. These moving averages carry less weight outside of the larger caps with the algos programmed to ping off those levels imo, but there could be a short term trend appearing if it can push on from here.

It is still a downtrend overall, but outside of the long termers here, a push on here could result in continued short term momentum. Almost this time last year, from very late November, the price did a spike higher and then continued a gradual short term move higher.

No idea if it will mimic that, but this is an interesting juncture.

All imo

As a rather stale bull I fervently hope that you are corrrect, fwiw I also think we are in oversold territory and not the volumes yesterday, also a short half a bar this morning which augurs well.
