surely they should have mentioned the price the offer was pitched at?

clearly with the value of the pound now, they can buy PLND at a much lower cost in exchange rate terms than before

I wouldn't be surprised to see American companies start making acquisitions of UK companies. If a trade deal is done with the US coupled with the strong possibility that Europe wont want big tariffs with the UK then it could be a win win situations for companies that acquire UK businesses.

Or the board could reject any offer as everyone will be shopping at Poundland soon.

From memory an offer has to be equal or greater than the highest price paid in the previous 6 or 12 months, but most certainly will be since they declared their interest

Thanks Brian, never heard of that one, but then again I think I`ve only ever been involved in two agreed takeovers in 25 years :-)

They have to offer a minimum of the price they have paid for stock since the declaration of intent I think

billy , what`s to stop them offering less than 203p if they wanted to ?

Not much volume today , just a mark down across the board.

FTSE 100 is actually +30pts from last friday`s close at the moment.

If the 203-205p trades were theirs from a couple of days ago then that puts a floor to their offer price

On a plate for Steinhoff now with 13 days to go ... if they still want to bid.

225p/230p should do it.

Investec back in the market ?

300k @ 203p printed a few minutes ago.

countdown: 14 trading days to bid.

Agreed.

I am not sure that the Poundland board has a lot of fire power to resist a sensibly priced bid.
The hiatus surrounding the takeover and integration of the 99p stores has left a big question mark over management, although there is a new CEO on board.
Aldi and Liddle are still expanding and pose a big threat to the business. The £1 model is restrictive, and the £1 and More stores will struggle to compete, given the restricted offering in comparison.
Duplication of shops in town centres must be expensive, and it will be interesting to see how many are retained when leases expire, despite comments from management.

225p - 235p is about on the money, although a far cry from the 300p - 400p in the early days.

I`d have thought they`ll try and get an agreed bid with the PLND board before going public.

Best guess 225p - 235p

phil

Very sound philosophy.
Agreed on your comment re: trades.
Blackrock never sit on their hands for too long, so top slicing is not unexpected.

Seems Steinhoff will be paying north of 203p IF they make a bid.

I would guess/hope the four 'deferred publication trades' OK trades from this morning were an institution unloading to Investec on behalf of Steinhoff

200k @ 203p
200k @ 203p
200k @ 202.875p
205k @ 203p

I see Blackrock top sliced to below 5% on monday (RNS)
