10/6/2016 15:14 | Phil, re Canaccord, they have a sell on IMB target 3275p. They have had sell ratings on these and Bats fir as long as I can remember. Sadly Poundland is not the shopping experience it once was. I don't think it's going to recover. | philo124
10/6/2016 13:44 | Poundland comes to Benidorm Poundland's outgoing boss Jim McCarthy will unveil his final set of full-year figures on Thursday after a testing year for the chain following sales falls and a difficult takeover of rival 99p Stores. The group is expected to report an 11% drop in underlying pre-tax profits to £38.7 million for the year to March 27 after seeing sales declines pick up pace in the final six months. Analysts at Canaccord Genuity said a first quarter trading update due with the full-year results is unlikely to show any marked improvement in sales yet. They said the cold spring weather, timing of Easter and push to convert all the 99p Stores will have "conspired to hold like-for-like sales back". | philanderer

27/5/2016 08:42 | B&M made good reading yesterday, same sector and market as us, 'cheap and cheerful' as they put it:- B&M is to create 4,000 new jobs in the next two years as the expansion plans of the budget home store retailer become more ambitious. In the latest sign that cheap and cheerful is the future of the retail scene, revenues at the business passed £2 billion for the first time. B&M, whose chairman is Sir Terry Leahy, the former Tesco chief, has 500 stores and plans a total of 850 — a conservative number, say watchers of the company. It opened 79 new stores last year and plans a further 50 in the next 12 months..... | paleje
