Good value chaps.

Agreed re freebies, when we were in Amsterdam on the exec floor we did the same, but happy hour is altogether different imo. You were paying for the Lexington stuff in the tarif, as were we.

tbf, when staying at the Lexington in NY they start serving complimentary red and white wine for residents in the foyer at 6pm. We have developed a skill for appearing about 5:58pm and necking 3 or 4 glasses of very mediocre ‘house’ wine before heading out to dinner.

Aye Dom, mid 20’s and unbroken sunshine for the last couple of days. Shorts and short sleeved shirts to dinner.

Dinner here tonight, walking distance too, which is a bonus.

Good man. Got your 'good works' in early so St Peter will have to wait before he can shepherd you into the presence of The Lord.

Mornin'all.

#7757,

You may be right, gra, but we wouldn't have to put up with Ed Milliband spouting his nonsense. In his COP29 interviews this morning, he repeated time and again that what he is doing will bring us cheaper energy and energy security. Why does the interviewer not call him out? We are already completely reliant on the French and Norwegians for 20% of our electricity which could be turned off at the drop of a hat; during the Russian crisis, we relied on imported LPG from the States when we have plentiful supplies of our own beneath the North Sea; massively increased demand from the electrification of everything from vehicles to domestic heating (plus those 'data centres, of course) is coming onstream when we are reducing generating capacity, failing to replace it and don't have the distribution infrastructure anyway and we all know that this is going to be more expensive. A massive case of a politician standing up and saying "Black is White" and being allowed to get away with it unchallenged.

No mate, I’m not a strong enough swimmer, as I found out about 15 years ago struggling to get back from a sand bar on the Gulf coast.

I’ll stick to the pool.

Well, what do you expect of these fanatics? What angers me is that you could have seen an identical headline if the false Conservatives were in power.
