dgduncan, that reads like a Government policy. In which case it must be legit.

I've been in shares since 1981 (BP) and have never liked share buy-backs. I have never come out as a winner - the share price always falls significantly after a buy-back. I don't recall it happening for the first few decades but in the 2000's it has become increasingly popular, which means someone other than shareholders is making money out of it. That said, major shareholders with influence often go along with it (possibly a tax advantage for them or a way to transfer ownership).

Buying back your own shares means you don't want to to return cash to shareholders by way of dividends. Nor, do you have any idea on how to invest the spare cash in improvements or acquisitions to make your business stronger.

The only thing I'm certain of is that small shareholders lose out.

What a joy to find a stock with no following.

Good buy recommendation over the weekend.

What would you think if someone borrowed some houses owned by you and your neighbours from the mortgagees and immediately sold them on the market ?. Sent out a circular saying there was a possibility of a motorway going through the area. With the glut of houses for sale, prices would crash and other owners would then get theirs on the market super quick to try and sell before the prices went even lower. What was once a respectable area is now a not so vibrant area. The ‘someone’ then buys the houses back at the lower prices and gives them back to the mortgagees. Job done and pocketed a good wedge and you still have your house - albeit a lot less in value. The ‘someone’ has made a lot of money but at yours and the other owners’ expense. Is this legal ??. No - of course it is not as this would be a ludicrous situation. It is however legal to do it with your stocks.
The AIM is less liquid than the main markets and is a breeding ground for this practice.
If you disagree with someone selling shares they do not own, please sign the government petition :

Can anybody validate the Net Debt figure for PTEC for mw please.

Not stated in the results, simply "EBITDA x 1.5" which I calculate at €343 x 1.5 = €520

However ...... I get something different €1026.8

Pipe delimited for those that want to cut and paste

Taken from the Balance Sheet

That is good news for the medium to long term. PTEC has also been able to buy back 300k a day.

I would have to dig deep for my purchase transaction and what I paid. It would have been around 10 to 12 years ago so I'm guessing between 350-400. A pitiful profit, if any, over a decade.Fortunately it was a modest punt because PTEC back then was quite risky, operating in largely in unregulated markets. The lesson is to sell when the founders sell.

Back on track with the buy back. Could the Goodbody error have been a means for PTEC to repurchase in a cheaper range...

I will be selling one day.
PTEC looks to be undervalued at this level. However, I'm not too confident in the markets generally. Economies around the world are slowing down and some sliding into recession. Markets everywhere are very nervous about Trump and his trade wars.
The gambling sector is having a tough time. Unregulated markets are unpredictable and regulated markets are unpredictable.

Why has GVC halved in value?I haven't watched GVC since PTEC sold its stake in June at 1010p which looks fortuitous timing. I don't understand what has caused GVC to lose around 3 Billion in value. Was it just way over-valued?We have a renewed partnership with GVC so hopefully we can help each other recover from these levels.

The share price started to fall quite sharply at 12:00. I wondered whether it had something to do with the two unusual RNS spooking some holders."Due to administrative errors made by Goodbody, the repurchase transactions of, in aggregate, 1,267,429 ordinary shares previously announced as having been undertaken by Goodbody on 22, 25, 26 and 27 February 2019 have been voided."
