Mark Slater in the IC today echoing your comments saying Phoenix is a "must hold" stock for income funds.

Phoenix is MFM Slater Incomes 9th largest holding with 2.11% of assets in July.

My guess is that there are a lot of equity income funds not yet holding PHNX. Historically the refinancing risk and the high leverage may have discouraged equity income funds holding as they would have perceived a risk of the dividend being cut or suspended. However, now that this has been removed every single equity income fund should be having a stake here. If they can all realise that soon then that will be great for us! The refinanced and deleveraged PHNX is now a much more attractive investment for institutional money where it may not have previously been on the radar due to the leverage risks.

Yep, nice little bounce back. Still over 7% yield at the current price. I think that there are a lot of buyers for this stock amongst income funds, since I would reckon that almost every single equity income fund will have some stake here.

The dividend is 26p, so a 14p drop is actually a 12p rise.

I wouldn't be surprised if we do, as it's still undervalued at these levels and there seems to be significant buying pressure whenever the share price pulls back.

I'm sure many will be taking advantage of the drop this morning to get in, not necessarily aware that it's gone ex-div today.

XD 26.7p today and so performance very good in first few minutes of the day. I wonder if the MM will catch up later in the day. Only bought after the last dividend and so how does it normally perform on XD day?
