At 7% in ISA double your money tax-free in 10 years. End of! Unless it's a scam of course!

Not everybody wants a dividend as it is income. A lot may have sold and will buy back ex div.

I’m happy to accumulate more shares at these prices for the long term and dividend.

Day early. XD on Thursday

Don't really see why it is a particular problem or "carry on" with it dropping on XD day either. That seems the only logical outcome barring any other mitigating factors

Porsche - it does beg the question, why on earth are you posting the same thing ad infinitum on a UK based BB - surely you'd be much happier on ?

That would be the same £/$ ratio up from about $1.21 to $1.38 in less than 2 years...
Clearly the trend was down to parity.... or not.

@both

still a pathetic return, you would have 4xd your money on Amazon in that time. Dividend crxp a waste of time. Poor ceo and now this share overhang, will be under 6 ex dividend, like i said, buy US growth. Every time, plus your getting usd protection rather than being in dogsxxt sterling which is heading towards parity with euro and usd.

I’ve said it many times here over the years, buy in the 6’s and take some profit in the 7’s and always follow the directors. I only ever recall smart well times director buys here. Of course capital growth is limited but a very safe high yield and a little range trading provides a nice low risk return.

I think the point about Phoenix is that it is a long term cash machine. We know what it does, it is slowly extracting value from the closed schemes (now with a little bit of other things on the side) while being very well run and very efficient at executing its business strategy. It is never going to set the world alight but pays a very chunky dividend while also providing a safe home for the capital with the outside chance of a takeover at some future point.

chris.... you should have emphasised that she has even more faith in the business (and maybe her spouse) than Briggs does himself as she bought more than him.

Mind you, haven't checked their total holdings so guess he's more than her anyway

Kirkie - it's hard to get an up-to-date handle on that: most of the charts I've found stop a year back, and they tend to be country or sector based.

However, CSs ballooned in March 2020 and most share prices tanked, not a particularly insightful observation, of course! And recently they have widened again on fears that the recovery may be aborted (delta variant). If you're going to look for CSs in evaluating PHNX, the hard bit will be getting short-term CS data!

I'm more inclined to accept technical issues such as possible sellers which some posters have remarked on.

Anyone with slightly better access to information than me - can someone tell me what the correlation of the share price of PHNX is with something like a credit spread index? My guess its fairly high, but it would be good to see more detail if anyone has access to it.

And a supplementary - my guess is that it's probably the best correlation out there, absent something like a FTSE100 tracker or similar.

Poorsh!t1945 - I rarely read your diatribes against just about every UK company but didn't you say that phnx would tank after the dividend not pre.?

I'm reasonably happy with the share price at these and (slightly) lower levels, as I'm just building a long term position here. IMHO the dividend here is as safe as it can be and if it drops much further, we will get in to the realms of either an activist investor or takeover territory.

As others have said on this and on other boards that you infest - if you don't like investing in UK companies why don't you do us all a favour and just eff off!?
