Love this company but hate the ‘two big downsteps’, a third would take us to 580p.
Thankfully i’m rubbish at charts.

Simply Google 'Investors Chronicle Phoenix', click the first sensible link and you should get around the paywall. :-)

The IC article mentioned earlier doesn't seem to be paywalled, though perhaps it's just a glitch in the space-time continuum

The signal for me was the directors wife buying the other month. As someone said its alright to take a gamble with your own money but if I lost my misses money she would never let it go and probably cut my nuts off in the night.

UK markets are never going to catch up the US markets this time round

They will however be taken down by them when the pull back comes

Thanks -

it's quite a technical article which says that all companies in the sector have underperformed the market recently owing to doldrums in the bulk annuities market. Phoenix has the biggest exposure hance the biggest laggard. This market is expected to recover this year and Phoenix with it. (All this is news to me! At least the IFRS loss doesn't seem to figure.)

There's another consequence - rising dividend payouts.

Give Swiss Re (or their bookrunners) some time to start placing their remaining holding. It could take a while to effect such a large sale if it's being done in smaller tranches.

On the other hand, Swiss Re might decide Phoenix is wonderful company to hold a significant holding in (over and above other uses for the cash) and no such sales will occur.

Swiss Re are free to sell now; maybe they aren't and the shares are down for another reason.

Well said medieval. I moved offshore in 2016 and took my money with me, all in USD now thank god. Tories have been a disaster since 2010 and brexit the greatest act of impoverishing self harm that then resulted in an ( even more ) hopeless ftse 100 as foreign investors fled, sterling down 11 years in a row against every other major currency and now stuck with the worst government in the western world, the covid fiasco, the now looming disaster of not even being able to put food on supermarket shelves, U.K. companies being hoovered up by foreign buyers for peanuts ( take back control haha ) and Johnson’s cretinous green agenda which has left the U.K. completely reliant on French electricity and Russian LNG, prospects for the U.K. are utterly dire, coupled with the fact it now has the highest personal and corporate taxes for 70 years. They say countries get the governments they deserve so the brexit axxholes have lumbered everyone else with this shower of sxxt.
On Phnx, I bought at 6.22. 60k’s worth, will look for a 20 pc bounce into next Spring then offload, rinse and repeat, U.K. for trading, not investing. As for this U.K. is “ cheap “ bs, thats becos U.K. is perceived as a political basket case and even more becos the companies are generally crxp, most financials have halved or worse over ten years, the rest of the index filled with cardboard box manufacturers and capital destructive dross like IAG riddled with debt, they are not growth companies, at all, and the market wants companies that can grow earnings. Ftse same price as 1999, pathetic.
