RBC cut to 220. Underperform.Perhaps i am being cynical, but curious for it to arrive a day or two after a 2% increase in short interest. . . |
Incredibly no reduction in short interest today |
I’ve been watching but its not very inspiring and imo there is significant risk from the rating and the NI hit to profits in 2026, unless some decent growth appears.
Full year outlook hasn’t changed. I notice there is no discussion here of the rating/growth risk. Its not undervalued just because a few posters think it is without that.
Plenty of businsses growing at high single digit % are on pe’s below 10, so it would be odd if pets growing at low single digit % had a pe of 10 for long.
Shorting has nothing to do with it.
The yield is good though, assuming investors don’t have a paper loss that needs a recovery. |
I was thinking of buying more PETS shares, but didn't think the trading update was good. So I have kept my powder dry. I am pleased to see the strong rise in share price today. |
![](/p.php?pid=profilepic&user=sphere25) Definitely getting moves exacerbated by shorts.
So many spikes on medicore updates or slight beats. With the market pricing in such gloom, with shares so beaten up, and then these shorts expecting a profit warning, the market gets blindsided and the bounces are vicious.
Shorts here at PETS, HFD, Wace is net short just under 0.5% in WIX so these big moves continue. There was one with RCH as well recently - that beat was apparently down to cost cutting too, not top line growth that the market would really get interested in. WJG another with plenty of issues, but the market is going for it. If you beat like ZTF and LUCE, you can get a delayed form of spike as well when forced sellers clear.
Have to correct this.
Keyed in the wrong ticker for SFOR.
There are shorts in SFOR, as well, so even with a very cautious outlook statement, just mentioning some form of improvements with debt can cause them scampering to cover some risk in the near term and the market getting a tad excitable
Trading opportunities galore.
Just hard to catch em when they gap up.
But that is the dynamic out there.
How long do the spikes last?
It will boil down to who keeps performing and the path of rate cuts.
That is the market right now.
All imo DYOR |
Shorts surely must be closing |
Jpm going to be losing quite a load this amIf they dont close soon they will be down overall |
Lovely Jubbly !
.... share price is creeping up ;) |
Business as usual here which will calm the oversold markets, no wonder the CEO bought £100K @ circa £2.37 while Neuberger Berman Group are buying 5%+, upwards & onwards.
“Vet Group Q3 revenue growth remained strong at 21.3% with LFL of 19.9%. High quality growth continued with Practices seeing double digit revenue growth supported by growth in subscriptions, visits, and average transaction values.
We expect to finish FY25 with a robust balance sheet after investing £55m in CAPEX and returning £85m to shareholders via ordinary dividends and buybacks.“ |
Nice update :) GLA holders. |
Solid Update Today, Short Squeeze & Broker Upgrades Likely In Play!
Thank you PETS Team, Solid Update Here Today for this now clearly very much Oversold & Undervalued Company, Short Squeeze and more Broker Upgrades Now In Play!
Undoubtedly few more broker upgrades will be on the way for us with higher PT, clearly so much upside potential ahead for the generally high potential UK (and global) pets business/market! |
What’s happening Tomorrow ? Last year trading statement was in March.
They’re forecasting a modest pbt increase this year, presumably low single digits. Assuming that leads to a modest earnings increase to say 9p, why should the rating be any more than 10? |
Been topping up over the last couple of weeks. The pressure that the CMA are coming under won’t do Pets any harm IMV. A big proportion of the share price drop is a result of the CMA investigation. Any indication that this will be less intrusive than expected will help drive us back towards £3. |
Some large buys today! I guess Neuberger Berman Group buying +5% here within days is testimony enough to buy PETS, now even a whiff of positives tomorrow should help the ailing share price fly north big time, and undoubtedly helped by an inevitable short squeeze! |
Activist shareholder? |
Form is dated 3rd December |
Interesting new shareholder announced after close of play yesterday!! |
This is on my to-research list, but I've just seen the article where the CEO moans about the budget. It's all speculation, but that doesn't give me confidence at the start. Will dig deeper, but there are more resilient retailers out there imo for several reasons. |
As usual this is the market straggler. Would not want to be invested when the TU is released. Might actually take a (short) position again beforehand. |
Well put your money where your mouth is then sonny. Its called going short. |
I popped in to see if there was anything interesting posted re the dividend and the financials.
On the face of it, high dividend plus possible share price recovery.
But 18mln increased costs from NI etc. looks like a 15%+ hit to profits and same to dividend.
They say they are going to try to mitigate those costs to some extent and expect the market to recover back to normal.
That’s a fair bit to take on trust though.
If it returns to the P/e of 10 ish that seems to happen to stocks with reduced profits, then a share price well below 200p would result. |
What makes you think anyone is interested in your anonymous dealings. Posting those here won’t change you being a nobody.
Another one for the blank post list. |
Keep up old boy - closed out almost a week ago for a decent overall profit. Moved some of it to FDEP this week in anticipation of the TU which has been quite the call if i do say so myself |
Fascinating to know the dealings of anonymous posters. I’m sure repeated doom posts will really influence lots of other investors to short, especially if they are just from one poster.
Clearly better to buy the US as its flying high. Buy high sell low. Thats what made Buffett a fortune.
Oh, hang on didn’t he just chop his top holdings in the silicone valley monsters… |
