10/8/2017 15:43 | I'm watching, but not buying in at the moment. Tomorrow is normally profit-taking day by the weekly traders, so this might fall further tomorrow imho. This share price is too volatile to predict accurately for now. Good luck to those buying in now at 455p, I hope for your sake this hits 470p tomorrow so you can enjoy cash profit in less than 24 hours trading. I'm waiting to buy in massively at 450p and below. | chelsea81

10/8/2017 14:54 | Doesn't seem to want to touch 450. Have got an alert on my IG account if it does come down to that level | scooper72
10/8/2017 12:31 | Someone clearly selling into any strength.....PoO up, Brent over $53 now, but this is down. Really quite annoying. :) Still, perhaps 4.58 is the new 440? | nicebut
10/8/2017 09:42 | paa65 - the FCA spreadsheet (on which the short tracker is based) is actual net short positions, not stock on loan. So the 8.5% is actual net short positions declared as of last night (yesterday's FCA spreadsheet had no changes for Petrofac). The short positions are supposed to be declared by 3:30pm or so of the day following the change in position, and those changes should (I think) then be reflected in that evening's updated spreadsheet. In practice, a number of companies (including AQR) often seem to declare one day later than that (or at least it appears in the FCA spreadsheet one day later). You can get stock on loan data from Euroclear, among other sources. For July it reported an average of 39m shares (over 11%) on loan, I.e. considerably higher than actual declared net short positions, as you would expect, given the 0.5% threshold for public declaration. | 1gw
10/8/2017 09:20 | Just a thought on how the shorters "haven't closed". What we know is that they still have 8% of the stock on loan. But what we don't know is how much of that they currently have sold. They may have bought it all back in recent weeks, and are now waiting for the next shorting opportunity. Or they may be fully sold and yet to buy back.Would be a more transparent market if they had to declare their actual holding position, rather than the gross amount loaned.I'm still holding, waiting for the next push in to the 490s. | paa65
09/8/2017 19:58 | chelsea 'done for now' | adejuk
09/8/2017 15:20 | This has a habit of falling from open and then recovering lost ground in the afternoon. Day traders dream. | lodgeview |
