Nice turnaround. Though cautious regarding update, it didn't warrant me selling. Longterm hold for me.

Lots going on and Petra moving forward at a pace. Tender offer surely a positive but not something I fully understand in how the market will respond. Divi returning which is good!

The Gemd results have got some spooked about inflation costs for diamond miners and miners in general. Will hold until the sept update. CEO wasn't unduly concerned in the Q update a month ago.

Added at the close. That was quite a pull back from this morning. Obviously the tip in magazine/paper was not part of the script.. ;-)

Mentioned in Moneyweek magazine today (Issue 1116 Page 19), including quotes such as "It could prove to be a major moneymaker" & "this little known stock looks cheap".

Petra has been a disaster for investors since day one !!
We invest to make not watch it go down the pan which most have done over recent times !! But agree they have turned the corner now but Mr Market still doesn't trust them as their previous history shows what a badly run company it has been.
The cash is building up. But them notes need sorting ASAP because bondholders are calling the shots so that's why Petra is languishing at 2p in old money which is criminal by the way.
I guess just hold and wait as the price is so discounted.
Good luck all!!!

Suprised this is still virtually 2p in old money. The progress over the last couple of years has been exceptional, here.

Looking at the cash generation Petra will have around 350m year end !
What are the actual restrictions imposed on these notes??
Petra is at the ransom to the bondholders at this present time. The shackles to be released ASAP.
It's the elephant in the room nothing else??

They need to do something ASAP with them notes and the ridiculous interest rate which starts next June !!
Surely that 288m cash can pay of half that debt and restructure the rest ??
Until something like that happens Petra's share will not move to any significant levels.
Hopefully they're in talks as me speak and a RNS would put a rocket underneath Petra share price!!
Let's only hope

i think they should pay the debt yes or at least halve the debt - interest at 9.75% is expensive

Historically this has been a bad investment for private investors, now the debt position is drastically lower than pre-debt for equity swap and easily serviceable with the healthy cash position and cash flow.

As I said, the net debt position was only $40m as at 30 June - you can check the latest accounts, cash was around $288m with a big chunk of diamond debtors on top of that due. They could pay most/all of the current debt down with current liquidity and earn far more in free cash flow than needed to service the current debt interest.

I think PDL will be paying dividends well before 2027.

Not sure the bondholders, who own most of the business, would vote for being taken private at an undervaluation - afterall, they will want more cream through capital appreciation (and potentially dividends) surely?

330m notes due in 2026 with interest at 9.75% is always sweeped under the carpet by delusional investors !!
Totaling around 440m to be payed by 2026 and thats FACT.
Hrad cash position in the bank is ?? I have always found with petra it is always smoke and mirrors.
The Cash generation is great but only for the bondholders not shareholders.
All that cream will not see us untill 2027.
And guess what they will probably go Private when tottaly debt free generating huge dividends.
And shareholders get bought out for a pittance.
Rant over

You fail to mention the cash position. Net debt is only c$40m at the moment, and has come down from $228m just a year ago and reduced by $111m in the last 6 months alone.

So the company is almost at a net cash position now, with significant free cash flow to invest in the long-term business and/or pay dividends.

How is this cheap with the huge debt pile it has??? Huge interest payments at 9.75% that next june.plus the 330m notes due in 2026 so total around 440m plus the outstanding 41m so 481m to be payed.
A major restructure is needed again because there isn't nothing left from that 150m FCF each year for poor sh shareholders.
Bondholders have restrictions and are in total control of Petra.
A complete dead duck for many years to come.
Zero value and only downside for many years.
