Two short interests on shorttracker.co.uk There is one bunch called AEK (UK) Limited (although as there is no UK registered company with that name they are either not a UK company or someone is not very good at completing forms accurately) who look as if they made a bit shorting Next earlier this year but only kept that position for a few months. There is also Public Equity Partners, L.P. who have been building their short for about 6 weeks(most recently published at 1.42% = 6.9m shares = a fairly hefty proportion of recent trades). They currently have a short on WHSmith and also shorted Ocado earlier this year.

Hmmm. I still think we are cheap given growth rate, long history of growth, cash generation etc. Won't be buying any more though until those two start closing.

PAYS getting hammered - no reason unless it is an anti Canadian thing

Not long to go now before the turn - technical indicators looking way oversold.

The weakness is puzzling but there is no point in trying to fight the market.
If it gets back to 400 I would look to buy back my stake but it is clear that the shorters are not letting go yet.

Shareholders should show some patience, the same patience which has rewarded us for the last three years! Come on guys. Look what the Free Cash Flow has done to the debt position

Wolfhound1 - no sign of shorts closing so far - in fact PEPM is up to 1.42% - shorts overall 5.22% now the 15th most shorted stock on the market.
Everthing seems very bizarre at the moment especially as most stocks are strongly re-bounding since Trump win. Could do with some good news.

I hope you are right Wolf. I did a bit of research on Bain, and it seems positive.Certainly think we have reached the bottom and oversold territory but the recent volatility hasn't helped. We can only wait and see about the short positions but I would suspect you are right. Only time will tell! The island is not far away! Haha

@jarega85 - Bain are a $75bn HF - IMHO they called the bottom at around 420p by taking their position on the 1st Nov. MY guess is shorts will be reported as closed in next couple of days - allowing for reporting lags.

I think Bains release of the RNS right when Trump was declared was no coincidence - they took the position on the 1st Nov.

Your island is not far off now :)

Charts look poor though and Shorts still seem to be driving the price down possibly in the attempt to get a reasonable price when they bid?

@jbar - indeed they look for multi-bagger opportunities ...i.e.JL's $10bn MV target

Very pertinent observation Wolfound can't see them wanting less than 100% return

Watch this space - Bain don't get involved for 5-10% return

Now there is a very interesting RNS just announced - 3.01% threshold crossed on the 1st November by Bain Capital Public Equity Management

1) Bain Capital - with Advent bought Worldpay out from RBS 400m and then floated for £5bn - ( and @ 6 April - still held 25%)
2) Wonder if there is any connection between BCPEM and Public Equity Partners management

If so then there you have it

Below is an extract of the filing:

This statement is being filed by Bain Capital Public Equity Management, LLC ("BCPE Management") on behalf of the following: (i) Brookside Capital Trading Fund, L.P. ("Trading Fund"), whose general partner is Brookside Capital Investors II, L.P., whose general partner is BCPE Management, and (i) Brookside Capital Partners Fund III, L.P. ("Partners Fund III"), whose general partner is Brookside Capital Investors III, L.P., whose general partner is BCPE Management. Trading Fund holds 13,781,964 shares, or 2.81% of voting rights. Partners Fund III, L.P. holds 943,702 shares, or 0.19% of voting rights.

With the US elections now complete and the Donald as president - PAYS is probably at its most vulnerable to a bid at current share price

Could make for an interesting last qtr

Thanks for that Boadicea, funnily enough I was reading Edison's August report on PAYS yesterday.

This company is producing a tidal wave of cash. Edison forecast (assuming no change to debt, capital structure or acquisitions), the company will be virtually debt free by the end of 2017 (only 14 months away now) and will have a positive cash balance of $213m at the end of 2018.

This will blow eventually - patience required methinks.

Donald Trump has been on record in the past as supporting online poker and once told Forbes that the U.S. is “missing out” on the revenue that iPoker can generate. His stance on iPoker will be considered one of his more liberal views if it were ever to become a significant issue at the national level.

Could AEK & PEP shorts have called the American election wrong, expecting a Clinton victory. Trump is far more likely to promote gambling. I would say this is good news for PAYS.
