05/6/2015 11:53 | Called in at PV on Oxford St Manchester yesterday and was not very impressed. Plastic cutlery to eat a custard slice? Difficult! Plate was also plastic and cup cardboard. Service was pleasant and cakes were very good but served in an ambience that would have been better suited to a simple cafe. It seems to me that the product is being let down by very poor presentation. Anyone else got any comments about this? | pshevlin | |

20/5/2015 13:08 | Patisserie Holdings PLC Has Its Cake… And Eats It, Too Shareholders of Patisserie Holdings (LSE: CAKE) will feel like rewarding themselves with a slice of cake to go with their morning coffees, after the leading UK branded café and casual dining group reported pleasing figures in its interim results today. Pre-tax profit grew a whopping 45%, from £4.8m at H1 2014 to £7m for the six months ended 31 March 2015, while operating cash flows soared by 110.5% to £8m. Revenue lifted 22.2% to £43.7m, while basic earnings per share increased almost 15% to 5.50p from 4.79p. Patisserie also grew its net cash balance from £0.2m at half-time in 2014 to the £3m reported in today’s results. Additionally, 10 new stores were opened in the period, all of which were funded from operating cash flow. | aishah | |

19/4/2015 13:04 | Cake and bun chain Patisserie Valerie expands profits by 27% Patisserie Valerie, purveyor of cakes and buns to sweet-toothed Britons, saw a 26.8 per cent increase in full-year profits as it announced plans to open 20 more stores. Shares in the firm rose 0.88p to 198.88p after it said online sales had increased 100 per cent to £2.6m and planned to offer afternoon tea at £12.95 across all its 148 stores. Pre-tax profit rose to £10.4m for the 12 months to September 30 from £8.2m on sales of £76.6m. It opened 19 new stores over the year, including its first outlet in Wales and its first motorway service station in Beaconsfield.
