We wouldn’t be surprised if by continuing the Pizza Express model the cakes ultimately end up on supermarket shelves.

A rather tasty prospect i must say

Staffline: Strong progress continues (BUY)

In an encouraging H1 trading update, Staffline has confirmed trading remains strong and in line with expectations. There has been continued strong demand from new and existing customers in recruitment, and the group continues to source record numbers of workers to supply this demand. There has been no change in demand following the EU referendum, and the improvement in the Work Programmes is now clearly showing through. We continue to believe the fundamental demand for Staffline's recruitment services will remain strong, supported by the cost savings that a flexible labour model offers clients and its differentiated model.

Our new price target is 1615p.

No. People very interested. Just stuffing themselves with PatVal's delicious tea and cakes and no time for posting!

Seriously though, there is a strong following for the share. Some comment - which I don't necessarily agree with- that share price is up with events and fully priced.

So maybe a little treading-water pro-tem but the share growth prospects look excellent to me.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

Board has gone quiet and share price not much movement. Are people losing interest in this stock?

Nice write up and buy tip in today's Times. Supports the view of stable growth stock - absolutely right and is why I am invested here.

thomas,

I applaud your desire to drum up business for Research-Tree ( who are probably very good) but why not post the full article here yourself?

Thanks.

Read finnCap's note on PATISSERIE HOLDINGS PLC (CAKE), out this morning, by visiting hxxps://www.research-tree.com/company/GB00BM4NV504

"While wider sector malaise has seen the share price come off recent highs, these numbers demonstrate the discipline that management continues to exert over the business. Our ... price target values the group on 23x FY17 fd EPS with the rating warranted, in our view, by the unique proposition: 1) well positioned, vertically integrated brands which straddle two growth markets and have plenty of runway for growth; 2) successful formats in a variety of guises and multiple routes to market; 3) strong and consistent cash flows to..."

ps. i don't really subscribe to the validity of lfl in this case.

Because everything was funded internally. Their Borrowings actually went down over the period.

they didn't borrow cash to fund the store expansion. that's fantastic.

if they hadn't rolled out new stores, they would have just had an even bigger cash balance at period end earning a dismal 0.5% pa in interest so it is far better to expand the estate of shops.

and just in case anybody has missed it, the Shareholder Value of PatVal increased from £72m to £75m over this 6 month period AS WELL AS liabilities reducing by 20% from £6m to £5m.

they are also in a strong position of having £9m in cash at the period end.

they are great results.

a very solid and highly expansionary business run by a man who's got a great track-record and done this all before.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

They started the period with 165 stores and ended with 177 stores.

An increase in number of stores by 7.2%.

Give or take, you could expect revenue assuming similar trading conditions to increase by 7.2% also.

It didn't. Revenue increased by 14.4%.

PBT not by 7.2% but by a whopping 20.6%.

This is SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER than the previous period on a strict lfl basis.

Additionally, one cannot ignore the VERY BULLISH OUTLOOK in the Chairman's statement:-

"...EXCELLENT SET OF RESULTS .... AND I LOOK FORWARD TO ANOTHER PERIOD OF STRONG GROWTH IN THE SECOND HALF...".

Luke Johnson built Pizza Express into a massive empire and eventually flogged it for a high price.

It seems clear in my view that he is going to execute and pull off a similar game-plan with PatVal over time.

Whether it's 3 or 5 years before Whitbread, Starbucks or some Private Equity Firm comes knocking with a blow-out bid seems to me to be a great likelihood.

ALL IMO. DYOR.
