15/3/2017 11:41 | Disappointing performance overall. Still jam tomorrow but never today. I've held for 2 years so obviously didn't sell during the "glory days" of a few months in 2016 as I felt there were more goodies to come. Now wondering if the recent fall is share specific or just general stock market malaise. Divi isn't much cop either............. so not much growth here and not much income. So.......... what is CAKE for? | keyno
15/3/2017 10:30 | Maison Blanc in Winchester has closed: Patisserie Valerie don't seem to have any representation there so maybe my big theory was wrong. I now don't think that we will get many sites out of this. Asagi (long CAKE) | asagi
12/3/2017 17:04 | They already have one in Chichester but the other site is next to Carluccios however the hell you spell that | panic investor
12/3/2017 16:11 | Maison Blanc stores have been getting closed at no notice. Maison Blanc, the café and patisserie on Turnham Green Terrace, has closed again with no indication of any plans to reopen...The chain's outlets in Henley and Chichester also closed this week. A notice was posted in the Henley store from the staff thanking customers and confirming the closure was permanent. Patisserie Holdings might have played an absolute blinder here. Maison Blanc management will be desperate to get out of lease/rent commitments and landlords will bite the hands off a 'bobs your uncle' new tenant. Asagi (long CAKE) | asagi

22/2/2017 08:52 | For example price rise of 9p this morning based on. £120 trade. | r ball
22/2/2017 08:47 | The 9p is the spread on the buy. Take no notice of it as its caused by low volume. | r ball
22/2/2017 08:17 | Bit of a pattern with the SP, frequently up 10-15p in the morning only to drop back in afternoon. Needs to break 345 then hopefully we'll have another leg up | audigger
20/2/2017 22:17 | Hi Panic Investor, thanks for the feedback :-) Hi Asagi, that's very useful detail - totally makes sense and I agree that getting Maison Blanc could get them more sites although they might just keep them in the MB format assuming they can be turned around. thanks, WD. | thewheeliedealer
19/2/2017 12:22 | Always useful WD | panic investor
18/2/2017 23:52 | Hi all, I have been digging into CAKE lately but have not bought any Shares (yet). To drive my research I have written a fairly detailed Blog which will probably be of particular interest to peeps like myself who are in the "shall I invest?" stage. Anyway, you should be able to find Part 1 of my deliberations at the link below and I plan to bash out Part 2 later in the coming week which will look at Valuations and Targets etc. I hope it is useful, Cheers, WD | thewheeliedealer

13/2/2017 15:36 | Luke Johnson does a column every week in the Business section of the Sunday Times. Yesterday's was about how many entrepreneurs get bored very easily and are continually looking for new ideas or something to do. There was a random paragraph quite early in the article when he said that he has often been looking around for a new project: "I have made both terrible and excellent investments because I was looking for something to do. When we bought Patisserie Valerie 10 years ago, we had no plan of any kind. We almost made up the project as we went along. Yet over the past decade it has become just about my most successful venture." Worth noting. | grahamburn

09/2/2017 09:58 | Discount rate - I think its what you get taking into account inflation as there has to be a discount back in time. This could be set at a variety of levels, these figures are always presumptions. e.g. what is the expected inflation rate, the interest rates, bond prices, exchange rate. If inflation higher, then the valuation is affected, so discounting back then current price is cheaper in that case. Someone can explain better, but basically, cash in the future is worth less than cash now. | che7win |
