Oil prices suffered more heavy losses on Thursday as selling pressure continued to mount amid fears over the implications of a potential recession on energy demand.

A barrel of Brent fetched USD101.22 around 1130 GMT on Thursday, down from USD104.24 at the same time on Wednesday. West Texas Intermediate eased to USD99.35 a barrel from USD100.03.

Both benchmark futures contracts sipped below the USD100-per-barrel psychological level on Wednesday. Brent crude is back above the USD100 mark, while WTI languishes below this key barrier.

Brent crude on Wednesday tumbled by 4.8% to USD99.75 in another "mind-boggling" session, with WTI testing USD95.00 intraday, OANDA analyst Jeffrey Halley said.

The primary reason for the current selling pressure on oil prices was that traders were concerned about the negative influence of a possible threat of recession on the energy demand, AvaTrade chief market analyst Naeem Aslam said.

dhb - I too enjoy some of his posts, but you rightly point out his 'sins'. While I agree most of us tend to talk our book, there's acceptable and unacceptable ways of doing it. Pro's are unacceptable

(with the possible exception of course when his position aligns with mine ;-)

PROtard, give a thought on why you're (not your) hated in all the public boards you're in. You are horrible and an absolute disgrace.

Thanks for the link. As a casual user of advfn, I've clearly not mastered the settings yet!
