Yes (I'm not unfortunately, although I have some ITV which seem to have had a relatively small sympathy boost). I was trying to think through ramifications for Arris, but can't come to any conclusions. Clearly it raises the prospects of further consolidation in the UK/Europe and perhaps reinforces the link between content and distribution (although Fox were already a big shareholder in Sky). Might Liberty Global bid for ITV and might that then make them (even) more aggressive in expanding their cable network and upgrading their kit? Does the Sky approach to in-house STB development change with a change in ownership?

If it can hold tomorrow and the wider market doesn't wobble, I'd say it may look promising

sorry to be so lazy..when are next results due?...opmoc, good to see you still look in....my eldest has decided to induce enduring penury for another 4 years by accepting a place at Harvard, so Arriss shares will hopefully provide a combination of both the wherewithall and the currency hedge??!!!

Tony - good to see you are still around. What ever happened to gbh2?
Do you still hold (Pace) Arris. My first purchase was 278 shares during the flotation when I was an employee of Pace back in June 1996. I started in 1989 and left in 2003.

I've no idea why but my Tumb1r account was terminated. They haven't had the decency to tell me why either. For a while there maybe pictures posted that have already been posted until I can work through my folders.
Apologies

Objection Overruled... ;-)
Your defence case is weak Mr 1gw...
Gagging orders in place.... lol

But outside of the formal gagging order... :-)

I do agree with you... I too feel a lot of investors probably see $30 as their physcological 'sell' point.. or at least near to it... especially, as you say, given the share price was over that point at the start of our adventure with Arris...

However, given the brokers views and targets, how much higher can it go before fy results??
Crucially, we also have the 'real' Christmas just around the corner, so maybe some will be thinking of selling to treat themselves or for NY cheer....

I've still got 2 lots to sell..around 20% of my initial holding...

I'll take Alex's advice 'wait another day'...

In my defence....
....I would say the point I was making the other day was that the share price tends to move quite quickly between 50c markers ($29 to $29.50 for example) and that having got through the $29.50 one the next target was $30 which I thought might need a bit of "oomph".

If you look at the Arris International share price history in the chart above you can see it started life (at the start of this calendar year) at just over $30. It soon dropped below $30, flirted with $20 and hasn't yet made it back above $30 on a closing basis. So I imagine that a fair number of shareholders who held all the way down might have decided that they will sell some of their holding if it ever gets back near $30 again (a bigger "psychological" mark perhaps than £4 or £5 was for Pace). This (predicted) selling pressure is what needs "oomph" to overcome (in my opinion).

Without tempting fate by suggesting that we're going to crack through $30 tomorrow, I will repeat the question I posed before. IF we do break through $30, what then (in the absence of market-moving news)? Is it reasonable to think that if this (predicted) selling pressure around $30 can be overcome then the share price could make quite substantial further gains (without news) as the weight of momentum buying becomes the dominant factor?

Myself, I have a "psychological" mark at the equivalent of £5 for Pace, but I doubt there are enough of us carrying that particular level to cause much resistance at whatever the Arris equivalent $ price turns out to be on the day.

Go on, take your best shots!

The main difference is that the confidence index today will be much higher because we are circa 3 weeks away from quarter / year end.
