However, the key statement in the trading update is:-

"It is too early to determine the full extent of the PRA changes on the market, and the further changes due later in the year."
*Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA)

Speak to any mortgage broker, estate agent and ask about activity levels now in the BTL market.

It's going to hit growth and it's a large chunk of the PAG, OSB business.

Future, That figures, I mean why do a buyback with the share at its high.

che7win - re PAG - that's all a cunning plan to inflate the value of Terrington's options rather than distributing the rewards for profits to shareholders! Very annoying, but if you like PAG as a business you just have to decide whether you can stomach the rewards paid to directors year in year out for the value of what they achieved some time back!

PAG just launched a £25m share buyback, they're keen!ALD up 4% today, sector recovery today.

As stated earlier - PAG update on Friday could be key here. Any negativity with it's BTL outlook could hit the sector hard.

Sentiment drives share prices.

Watch the PAG shares price ahead of Friday.

I'm glad someone's making money out of OSB - I'm presently still looking at something akin to a 'black hole' after 'divesting' nearly 2 months ago

UHOUND,
Out by the skin of your teeth, you timed that perfectly, I'm impressed :-)
Nice £500 you banked there.

PAG trading update Friday I believe then ALD and SHAW early March.

Will be interesting to see their outlook and if it's changed in anyway now that reactions to BREXIT, Tax changes, Trump, Interest rates etc., have sunk in.

Uhound, Well done, good trade, I didn't think you'd make money but you have.40p EPS forecast, I'm tempted to buy more if/when we see some strength, whole sector fallen a bit.

Short closed here @312. Nice little profit banked in 3 weeks.

May see a bounce in the short term, but still think 250 is possible within a few months.

Yes, CAKE is a wonderful business with high ROCE, not sure about the latest take over rumour they are looking at acquiring, guess they know what they're doing.

Been thinking about buying CAKE myself - was waiting for the turn in price, but I was to slow when it happened. Missed the low at the start of December and it's really moved up since then.

Still on watch list.

Uhound, certainly! Bought GMS back today, topped up on CAKE and BVIC yesterday. Maybe I'll put in some IDP profits here, decisions, decisions. Market is nervous right now, missed WAND and PRSM earlier but they aren't really my cup of tea.

Any idea as what to causes OSB to be so volatile? Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Inflation letting rip, pound up!

Kicking myself I didn't buy more this week here, I was hovering over the buy button.

Maz, I was wondering similar, OSB trailing ALD and SHAW for the past month, then today ALD falls hard and OSB recovers.

I see Virgin (VM)and Paragon (PAG) today made good gains almost inversely proportional to Aldermore drop. It's as though buyers drop one to move into the other within the same sector which I find strange. Incidentally, had I bought VM instead of OSB, I'd have seen better profits today, but that's the way it goes, it could have gone the other way.

Che7win, As you say there is a lot of volatility with some of these challenger banks share prices.

Good volume in ALD shares too from what I can see which is not a good sign.

Probably bounce back up again tomorrow!

uhound,
it takes guts to go against the market, your contrarian view I don't dismiss, but that's what you're doing here.

I have done that at the bottom of charts when there has been some consolidation. I did that with GMS with (premature) purchases at 50p and then 40p. It takes a lot of mental energy. So I do it on the long side.

You are calling a top here clearly against the tide, that's not to say your view is not correct, it may be but the market doesn't see it that way right now..

I would be more comfortable in your position if I were to place a position with the chart turning, brokers are still upgrading here (not that they are any more accurate than anyone else).

So I like to follow a trend, we'll see if this trend continues. I do like to hear the contrarian viewpoint.

PS: Aldermore down today, wonder why?

As you ask, I generally think it's always good to 'bank a profit', provided the margins justify it. We all have our own reasons to sell that may vary widely over time. I also think its good that che7win is willing to share his 'rationale' and I have no reason to doubt his motives.

Incidentally today's shift was similar to some volatile movement last week that today saw the share price drop 10+ points only close back up to end near flat on the day. It all seems very strange to me as a newcomer to OSB and it'll be Interesting to see how it fairs tomorrow.
