Last of The Mohicans - It is a family controlled company so they won't admit mistakes and are unlikely to make radical change. Investment Portfolio has been lacklustre for sometime. They even invested in the US hedge fund Pershing Square that took a terrible bet on Valeant. For some reason they think high cost funds are a great idea. However, recent performance versus the S&P 500 is pretty awful.

Wilson Sons is where the potential and value is. Probably treading water for now given Brazilian economy but appears to be well run. I think it is a case of a company that will turn around when Brazil turns around in a year or so.

Investment Portfolio is a disgrace.

10years of under performance & that's before you take off the Hansa management fees.

Directors just lining there own pockets etc with there Hansa connection.

Anybody with any integrity would have said either goodbye Hansa & moved the management of the portfolio to someone else. Or wound it down as its not contributing to the company overall. They could do share buy-backs with the cash.

mixed bag of results... investment portfolio seems to go nowhere despite rebounding global markets... it seems to be in a lot of high fee and esoteric hedge funds...stake in Wilson Sons worth more due to strengthening Brazil Real.... just a continued mediocre performance as far as I can tell...

Given the poor economic conditions in Brazil it's a testament to the strength of the business that they are doing so well. Happy to hold long term after doubling up here and at Hansa Trust earlier in the year.

Ive sold out here this morning for a net 20% profit, yet again the investment fund had lost value and the business itself remains difficult to analyse. I know OCN is cheap, I like the dividend but I'm investing the money elsewhere, GMS, slightly related sector but more readily understandable .

I'll keep watching and thanks for the informative posts!

Hi Piedro,

If you have time, I'm sure some of us would like to read these press reports, given the terminal was talked about last September.

Thanks

The proposed expansion is to build a third quay to the north + extension of the yard area.

They applied for the early extension of their 25 year contract so that the work would be able begin as soon as possible

spooky,

It looks like they are getting the 25 year extension to the terminal's licence.

By granting it early, Wilson's are telling the Brazil State, they will in return spend £££; on upgrading the port.

Thereby hoping to attract more business to it & earn a good rate of return on that additional investment as well as the cash already invested in Tecon Salvador.
