20/3/2008 13:50 | They only encourage sellers if they have, or think they will have, a market for them - i.e. buyers to take them up. So its pretty much the same thing. They wont want to accumalate stock just because its a bit of fun - there is usually a reason. | grahamcm
20/3/2008 11:57 | I don't think we are saying the same, sanroc thinks the MMs are looking for sellers, I think they're looking for buyers. | gbb483
20/3/2008 11:23 | gbbb483 - i think you and sanroc are saying the same thing but with different words. It used to be called 'a tree shake'. That is to encourage trading/selling/acti | grahamcm
20/3/2008 10:33 | The drop in the price today, with no buys or sells is market maker manipulation True they are trying to frighten us into selling to get our shares False They are trying to generate interest / trades / activity. They make their money on the spread, they've no interest in speculation. | gbb483
20/3/2008 09:24 | Graham I think you are playing the game that suits you and I wish you and all the rest of us the best of luck. The drop in the price today, with no buys or sells is market maker manipulation I think, they are trying to frighten us into selling to get our shares, they know this is going to be a winner and they want our stock cheeply for buy orders they have waiting, don't be spooked into selling, we have waited a long time for this thing to get moving and now we are there.the MMs are out to rob us, don't let them get away with it. | sanroc32
13/3/2008 14:15 | KKringe - I don't think so. On small deals the arithmetic does not work out - only makes the brokers richer. No one can beat the bookie. With good judgement the long term investor wins the day and keeps his nerve. If you prefer an outright gamble why not use the spread betting system - you don't need stock just put your money where your mouth is. | countryboy2
12/3/2008 18:05 | I can understand Grahams selling for a profit, when I did day trading I was often buying and selling the same shares 4 times in one day, and made money on each transaction, but in these small amounts I doubt there is much point really, as the broker costs take away too much of the profit. I doubt the price will drop enough to make buying back in viable for graham, I think he should have added insted of sold, but we all have our own way of trading. Pifedayo Thanks for the link, It is a very possitive bit of news and even more reason for the development to begin sooner than later. whether it is 2010 or 2011 it is going to happen, I am sure. But good luck to everyone. | sanroc32
12/3/2008 16:23 | Though he probably makes 10 times as much from the share fluctuations as you make from sitting on your certificates. | kkringe
12/3/2008 15:47 | I cannot understand the small-time investing policy of grahamcm. Other than achieving some miniscule benefit I am unclear as to his intentions. I should have thought at todays price he would have been better advised to build up his holding. He must be the brokers delight in paying fees and expenses! I am holding my shares in OAK for the long term. Dancing in and out is of little consequence. | countryboy2
12/3/2008 15:17 | I see they've brought the date forward a year from 2011 to 2010 - or put another way, whilst I had hopes the 2011 date was justified - I now don't believe either of them. | gbb483
12/3/2008 14:41 | Sheffield Steelers take on move to Yes site:- | pifedayo
12/3/2008 13:10 | Well, ive taken the risk and sold for a small profit (got more than the quoted sell price) on the assumption that this is going to drop back now. Its looking likely (IMHO) and i have just given it a nudge!! Hope to buy back again though - fingers crossed. | grahamcm
10/3/2008 09:58 | Countryboy2 I knew I forgot something the spades????? | ivanaustin
10/3/2008 08:56 | Until I see the first sod dug I won't count my chickens! | countryboy2
07/3/2008 18:02 | You could be right about the weather being better there, it has been decidedly cold here the past few days, but we have had a very good winter really and it looks set to improve soon. And we do enjoy 300 days of sunshine each year, so I can put up with a cold spell. Oak is going to be news driven from now on and everytime they tell us of someone else getting on board, we can expect a nice gentle rise, I can see a very positive future here now, there will be a few profit takers soon though as people get their money back, then the price could drop back a little, but the big money will be made by those of us who wait till 2012. all in my own opinion of course. good luck to all holders. | sanroc32
07/3/2008 14:50 | cm, it's hot and sunny down here! Hampshire sounds better than Mallorca at the moment. We also have plenty of gin palaces too. Agree Oak is likely to be a long term hold. Despite recent share price rise I'm still sitting on a big loss. But with a project of £350m and Mcap of £6.5m the upside is huge if they get it right. Potential overspend by a few % and it could of course wipe out the company. Scary but exciting. | grahamg8
07/3/2008 11:27 | Yes, I was 1p under my buy price before the rise, now I am still 1p under my price after the rise - its not fair, I should be seeing a profit!!!! Sanroc, I thought you would be somewhere around the Med! A wont ask how big your boat is it will probably only make me jealous. Im 20 miles north of Inverness and have just been to meet the architect at our new building plot in the pouring rain and wind. A far cry from sitting on a boat in the Med - do love the mountains though, especially in winter. Watch out for pirates!! | grahamcm
07/3/2008 08:40 | An interesting point : The (Sheffield) Steelers (one of Britain's top ice-hockey teams) are set to relocate to YES! in 2011. ... which puts a deadline on the project. I don't know - 5p on the Ask and diddly squat on the Bid, sending the spread from 3p to 8p (or 17%). Again proving that the stock consolidation was a waste of money for the company. | gbb483
07/3/2008 07:22 | The news stream already seems to be picking up! | ghbg
06/3/2008 11:58 | Graham I live in Mallorca, been here 20 years. But I come from Yorkshire and so have a soft spot for this project. The internet has made it possible to play the markets from anywhere now, which is great. I do all my trading now sat here on a boat, so it is rather pleasant. Cold today however. Good luck to all the holders, once more news comes out, I think this one will really start to roll and we will all be back in a nice profit. best wishes to all. | sanroc32
06/3/2008 00:41 | So where do you live Sanroc? | grahamcm
04/3/2008 09:54 | ghbg thanks for the news link, it is nice for those of us who live outside the UK to be kept abreast of these news bulletins, as we don't often get to hear of local news. It is nice to see the people in charge of Rotherham being so positive about the project. And the fact that it could employ 3000 people is going to be a real plus point for an area with a lot of unemployment. Good luck to all holders. | sanroc32
03/3/2008 22:13 | Here is a relatively new article on the RIDO website, basically a re-hash of what we already know With a proposed two hotels and conference facility plus sporting the company does seem IMO, even at this stage, undervalued at £6.5m, notwithstanding "credit crunch" etc. I feel that the board must be confident on funding. However, next crucial date I suppose is 25 March 2008 - payment of £750K due as final instalment on purchase of land at entrance to development. | ghbg |
