I am sure I read that the original well was no good and should have been re drilled
Shlumberger tried to acid soak ot and stimulate it back in 2011 and failed.

Referring to the Garden Hill oil discovery, in Western Newfoundland.

The Bubble point is the pressure at which liquids start to break out, meaning the gas that is within the oil at reservoir is compressed under pressure sufficiently to keep it as one liquid, when the well is opened to flow the liquid starts to rise to surface and at the same time the pressure on that liquid reduces as it rises (hydrostatic pressure) the gas then slowly starts to break-out from the liquid volume (GOR-Gas-Oil Ratio).

So the difficulty can be that if the Bubble point is low then as soon as you open the well to flow and reduce the wellbore pressure the gas breaks out too deep in the well and you only recover limited liquids (oil).

If you run a pump (ESP) then you can produce under increased pressure and keep the liquids under sufficient pressure that the gas can't break-out until out and at surface, this gives a more controlled flowing condition but the difficulty is in selecting the correct pump to match what the reservoir (near wellbore) can replenish so the pump has a constant flow of liquids to pump out.

If permeability is poor and the pump too large then you suck out the stored oil in the wellbore and end up with little or no liquids to pump. The other advantage with an ESP is that you are not constrained with natural surface/wellhead pressures as the pump near reservoir depth drives out the oil rather than relying on natural pressures.

Some Co's opt to run much smaller tubing (spaghetti) as small as 1-3/4", to produce through, this significantly increases the fluid velocity in the spaghetti tubing and forces far more liquids to be driven out with the gas that is also breaking out, but it is far less controlled than that compared to ESP.
