I've seen no UK profit warnings today.

I heard a discussion on BBC News 24 that UK car sales are being flattered by very high levels of preregistering - even though private sales were down in September. The same discussion appeared before the 2008/9 recession.

Shadowside, away this week so only just spotted the CRX offer. Will have to read up on my return, and see what happens to the loan notes.

LLOY look good today!

-0.58% for the Folio.

Highest value risers : BGO +8.8%, GVC +1.9%, PEW +2.1%, CSN +1.2%.

BRSN accounted for all my loss & more today, so good to see BGO bounce back some.

Overcast today, wind WSW 15 mph gusting to 25 mph. Temp 15C max.

But what will it be after 10 revisions and what will be the statistical error at that point!? Remember the last recession was the deepest since the Great Depression - until they revised it years after!

+0.1%.

14.2C after 10.5C. Constant grey cloud and strong southwesterly moderated temperatures.

GDP figure better then expected at +0.5% for the third quarter, only down slightly from previous quarter, so much for brexit effect.

I'm down -0.131% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.409%).

Worst falls: S32 -4.76%, AZN -3.40% and BLND -2.45%.

Best rises: LLOY +2.90%, RDSB +1.64% and RB. +1.60%.

Not sure why the divergence today. Maybe it's down to my weighting of LLOY and AZN.

Curry lunch at Wetherspoons today. Was +7°C and misty first thing .

Another FTSE250 profit warning - down 18%. I see BARC and BT. refer to rising pension deficits in their news. This seems to be becoming a theme as well. Tread warily.

Berendsen's 'operational instabilities' are hitting me hard this morning, bought a load in 2008 as an income recovery stock which it did, hold some less now having disposed on the way up.

Know this firm, believe me the guys at the top won't take a 17% fall in share price very well, heads will roll. More plants will be rationalised or closed. Falling margins is an anathema to this firm.

No mention of currency tailwinds though.

Another couple of tiddlers warning today but Berendsons is probably quite signficant, if very vaguely worded in euphemistic management speak. I think this means they are rationalising UK operations to reduce costs. Their shares are down 17%.

The Berendsen Excellence strategy being implemented across the Group addresses the issues outlined above, as well as delivering continuous improvement across the Group, through: customer focus; operational excellence; organisational capability; and effective use of capital. As part of this strategy, the Group is undergoing an organisational capability review to assess and strengthen the workforce, with particular focus in the short term on the UK operations. This will create the operational stability required for the implementation of the Group's superior operating model and enhance the returns of the capital investment programme.

Nobody seems to have broken ranks yet and said markets are slowing. It's volatile demand or markets continuing to be uncertain due to Brexit. Delayed contracts, reduced investment, unprofitable store closures and efficiency drives seem to be the themes - but fewer hours worked with fewer employees will hit consumer spending, at which point the papers will start running the doom and gloom stories.

Worst falls: BATS -2.878%, RDSB -2.15% and SGRO -1.86%.

Best rises: MKS +2.36%, TSCO +1.62% and LLOY +0.96%.

The market seems to be all over the place.

I was under the hands of the fair Jenny this afternoon. She always asks me how do my teeth feel, to which I reply "Clean". Took Mrs DF's car, and the fuel warning light came on as I neared home. That might last until Christmas.

Misty again this morning. About +8°C, but it's too dark to see clearly

-0.5%.

A mild 8.4C thanks to it clouding over. A fair bit of sunshine this morning lifted it to 15.4C, with the help of a southerly breeze - a day to dry things out and a welcome change from the cold and damp.

Mr P,

What is your reaction to CRX offer? Seems a tad miserly at first sight but no way of knowing how much share price rise over last year has been driven by insider knowledge of likely deal. Tempted to sell but looks a very solid bid so may hold on for the full 160p. Always the chance someone else will get involved.

A good day for the miners.

I have just come back from London. Not a good trip. I went to the station to collect my tickets from the machine, only to find both machines out of action and the ticket office closed. Posters saying buy your tickets at your destination. The I checked on the trains just about 4pm to find that my 4:45 train was cancelled, but the 4:12 was running. A hurried drive to the station. usually there are three or four parking spaces free. Not one, so I had to park on a grassy spot. The train was just pulling in so I had a run to the platform and just made it. Got my tickets from the booking office at Blackfriars, no trouble, and now had time for a coffee before my meeting.

Anyway no problems coming home, except that I found that I had parked in a boggy patch. Fortunately the front wheels were able to get enough grip to get me out. We had several damp spells during the day, not much more than drizzle, but annoying.

A visit to the dental hygienist tomorrow afternoon.

-0.68%, PHNX going XR contributed to half of it. Full rights entitlement to follow & correct..

Worst value fallers : PHNX -11.6%, GVC -3.5%, TCN -4.8%, SDV -2.9%, CSN -3.1%.

Highest value risers : BLT +3%, BRWM +2.7%, BT.A +2.6%, BRCI +2.1%.

Without the miners would have been a dismal result. GVC fall worrying.

Same here with persistent foggy conditions, not helped by road closures due to half term highway works. Max 11C when sun broke through.
