A little snow settling on cold surfaces here. We're low. Looks to be a couple of inches at Buxford so could be 4"+ on southern Pennines:

Trump edging it. Nikkei down 5%. ASX down 2%.

+0.17% today. [ FTSE 250 -0.06%].

Highest value risers : BLT +4.7%, BEZ +2.6%, NG. +1.1%, TLPR +2.7%, BRWM +2.2%.

Worst value fallers : IRV -3.4%, CSN -2.6%, HSD -2.8%, GVC -1.3%.

Bought back a few IMB as the share price fell this morning, they were disposed @ over £40 in Aug.

We always carry tubes of prescriptive Glucogel everywhere for low blood sugars, sachets of demerara sugar given away in coffee outlets are useful as well. I'm not the sufferer but have to deal with it. Would carry the monitoring kit for longer journeys.

Both my WIN 7 desktops have now been affected by MS attempts in the summer to coerce all users into WIN 10.
Despite spurning their overtures it affected normal WIN 7 updates, or the ability of the PC to receive them, let alone install.
One has already been fixed, the tech's say the second one which hasn't updated since July will need at the worst another factory reset.
All cost to the consumer, no comeback on MS.

font color=blue>I'm up +0.289% on the day (FTSE100 +0.532%).

Best rises: BLT +4.71%, S32 +2.41% and RIO +1.66%.

Worst falls: MKS -5.16%, IMB -3.00% and TATE -0.93%.

A good day for the miners - I don't have enough of them. MKS suffered from its interim report and news of store closures and changes to all-food format. IMB had good finals, raised its dividend by 10% and fell - typical performance on results.

Had a chat with a GP on the phone. we agree that it was a hypo and suggests that I should carry my blood test equipment with me, plus some sugary sweets. I have enough bags to do that.

I always find it remarkable how little it takes to right a hypo. No moe than 15-20g of sugar/carbs recommended, I believe, so you don't send blood sugar too high. It is not much. That's probaby less than a small bite of Mars bar.

Good luck with the PC, Skinny. Had that a few times over the years. Very annoying.

+0.1%.

Been sawing up some of those large branches. The older ones left in the corner seem drier than the ones from the top that I piled up and failed to burn. Decided to start cutting anythingi over 2-3 inches into small logs to dry out in the shed, ready for a small woodburner. I don't think there are many places it can go in the house (lots of glass) but technology is pretty flexible these days so we'll see.

6.1C. High grey cloud. Now 3C and damp,

The Solent was absolutely flat at lunchtime, 24 knots and you could hardly tell you were on a boat!

One or two tried to spoil the party today, but pleased to say the SIPP managed +0.19% thanks to top risers NG., BP. & UU. and the pot edged ahead by +0.07% thanks t LLOY, RDSB & LGEN

Next episode of Ordinary Lies tonight. Oh, and some election or another for anyone interested!

Glad you have a diagnosis DF - watch out for the green jelly babies!

Main PC now refusing to let me in - I tried to do a clean boot and seem to have made matters worse - good job I gave up IT @10 years ago!

Unsurprisingly, the markets are treading water ahead of the results - I bought a few dollars for our February trip - time will tell.

-3°C here this morning, bright and clear. Forecast is for +7°C maximum.

Consensus is that I had a hypo and should have some wrapped boiled sweets with me when I go out. We shall see. The diabetic nurse recommended jelly babies, which comem loose.

Think I've just seen my first wren in the garden. Smaller than a robin, brown, round, smooth, very short elevated tail and beak. There's loads of other birds all scouting for food together just now for some reason. It's like a nature reserve or aviary. Don;t usually see them in lrge numbers and all mixed-up species. Some getting close to the house and picking firethorn berrries.. Food must be getting hard to come by.now and/or the colder weather has triggered a slight change in behaviour..

Looks like you timed GVC well, MrP. .

Second month of rising manufacturing and falling industrial output. I'd describe recent months as mixed (which is not as good as positive trends last year) but you know I expect such governmnt numbers to be heavily revised.

Growing from seed is fun when your other half does not leave the shed door open for No.2 to tip seedlings all over the floor!

It felt very cold this morning. The low of 1.6C did not occur until 8am, whereas previous days have warmed a few degrees by the school run. Dry, though, with lots of high grey cloud. Jolly cold where it was clear:

Good Morning.

I'm having lots of problems (blue screen of death etc) with the latest Windows 10 update.

My SIPP finished up 0.38% yesterday.

Aleman - Tomatoes may grow as perennials in their native habitat, but are essentially annuals here - as MrP says - growing from seed is much more fun.

Hope you get to the bottom of it, DF, although I think we all have a wobble every now and then for minor reasons, so it might be nothing, hopefully. Good luck.

I have yet to see a significant profit warning this week so that is about 4 days without obvious bad news. However, I note that Grafenia (contract print) observed a weak end to October, after a good start to that month, and heavily cyclical recruiter, Gattaca, reported a slight fall in its Q1 net fee income.

It could have been. I've used our WebGP system to request a phone or Email consultation tomorrow. Blood sugar was 6.9 when I got up at 06:30, 4.6 late afternoon, so it might have been that, but the morning result suggests not.

+0.78% today. [FTSE 250 +1.08%] and first decent folio gain since Oct 14th.

Highest value risers : HSBA +4.6%, BLT +4.8%, IGR +3.3%, IRV +3.55, BA. +2%.

Worst value fallers : CLIG -4.2%, NG. -1.3%, UU. -1.5%.

I'm up +0.973% on the day today (FTSE100 +1.698%).

Best rises: BLT +4.76%, RIO +3.57% and LGEN +2.46%.

Worst falls: IMI -1.48%, TSCO -1.14% and UU. -0.97%.

TSCO obviously hit by the bank fraud problem. Miners well up, and RIO is my heaviest weight share, although BLT is one of the lightest.

Had a funny turn this morning. Balance problem, I think. I was walking home and found that I was leaning forward, and so had to speed up to avoid falling over. Eventually had a couple of sit downs, and then slept most of the morning. I don't know whether to walk or drive tomorrow.

-3°C yesterday morning, +3°C today, but with a keen northerly wind. Definitelt a bonnet and shawl day.

My tomatoes still going but now ripening much much more slowly and don't seem to taste as nice. I'm wondering If I can keep the plants alive through the dark days of December. Imagine not having to start from seeds next year!

Pleasant day today but a top of only around 7°C and due to fall to around 1°C later tonight.

A healthy +0.51% for the SIPP despite a few falls, top risers SPD, BP. & newly topped up CTO and the pot managed slightly better at +0.63% thanks to LGEN, RDSB & SGC

Can't see much on the tv tonight but I'm out anyway at a classic car monthly meeting.

+0.1%. Moderate rises everywhere held back by an odd late fall at CLIG.

6.9C high after 1.9C last night. Currently 4C and some big grey clouds about with occasional clear bits. Feels like we might get our first sleet or snow.

Here we go - snow due to Polar Vortex. No mention of heavy snows all across Russia and North Europe last week as winter spread west from Siberia 4-6 weeks early.

You can see how Arctic ice has jumped in the last two months here. It is above average, although at time of year when the totals are usually fairly low, and hence a bit volotile.

I fitted a rail and curtain to our glass entrance vestibule this weekend. It has cut out the draft into the hall nicely. Looks like it was well timed!

Aleman, we light the log burner each evening and leave the lounge doors open which helps warm though the whole house which means the main central heating doesn't normally come on at all in the evenings. Mind you, with this cold spell we are getting through a few logs so I think we'll need to get up to the woods and stock up!

If the forecast proves correct, we're going to take the boat out for a gentle run tomorrow lunchtime, but will need to wrap up warm as 5°C doesn't sound like tropical conditions!

SPD my top riser so far today, taking them to 18% above my buy price under a month ago.
