I believe the bad news was already priced in smithie6...you said the same in your own post.

To me the statement was more positive than expected. Obviously it was worse than you expected but that's what makes a market.

I post here because I'm invested. You've posted to make your point which is great. Good luck.

the posts this mornings from holders won't hold up the price.

I wasn't exactly anticipating an ahead statement smithie6!

Predicting a share price to be lower by the end of the month in the current climate? You brave soul...

Market seems to be impressed with both divisions' performance in difficult times. New research note from Equity Development out: experience of tough times and proactive steps taken should stand NBI in good stead.

"Did NBI buy Talisman Oil ?

uh, yes !
you should know that.

the biggest aquisition that NBI has ever made, I think

(while noting that I don't know if there were/are any sections of Talisman in some place in Asia that NBI didn't buy)

Comments next to yours :

really ?

surely in the acquisitions they've made there must be experienced ppl, no ?

- existing staff to some degree but not at top management level, find out how to run liner hangars and you may understand

(although yes, the family that built up Talisman have all left yrs ago I think)

- did NB acquire Talisman ??

but even experienced oil ppl can't create demand for hire equipt. if the sector is inactive/quite

& I assume that the demand for generators also falls with many sectors shut down due to the virus crisis such as construction

- not my business area

& renting of load banks to builders of new ships to test their electricity generators....which used to be popular once....I guess that is also on a go slow or stopped

- agreed

----

any hiring of any kit or generators to oil fracking cos. in USA must I assume have almost stopped since fracking costs more, I think (50$/ barrel ?) than the current oil mkt price, so I assume they have stopped operating

- not my business area

with USA oil at about 15$/barrel at the moment & their reserve storeage facilities are full I think
& with everyone sitting at home the consumption has crashed & there is a large over capacity

:-(

I don't think there is anyone at NB making decisions who knows the oil business.

It is very different from the "hire" business, I would not like to be running the Oil Tool side !!!!

...I read a recent RNS from an oil co. operating in Asia & Australia

& they have stopped/postponed new drilling & all non-committed capex

logical
====

& hence the quick fall in the share price here in the last few days, as ppl see the low oil price hitting the sector hire cos.

Difficult to see how this company will do well in this environment, with the oil production situation deteriorating and going to result in shut-ins, bankruptcies, etc, the omens are very clouded. Production needs to decline hard and fast NOW, US needs to play its part, however unpalatable, and other majors likewise, otherwise big oil will struggle to survive at these prices. Buying the Cash futures must be a good bet on a twelve month view, maybe more pain, but that is being exemplified now!

Noteworthy late trade of 25k @ 95p reported after the bell. Plenty of stock available to buy early on yesterday but only 1500 (from memory) later on.

its nice to see the MD making share buys

but let us not forget, that a share buy of 4000 & 2000 shares is fairly irrelevant compared to the share options that he has...~ 1 million !

oil price not too good today

price for WTI Continous
had rise in recent weeks from 25$/barrel to 32$, after falling over some weeks from ~70$

but now the price has fallen back to ~26$....clearly the OPEC supply cut hasnt so far done much to push up the price
...howver I guess that the Arabs et al
will meet again at some time & make a further cut !

Indeed, anyone talking up the business or projecting is irresponsible, Tasman will drag down the bottom line I fear.

recent news

OPEC & USA & Russia agree to cut daily oil production

10 M barrels (but Trump says it was 20M ??)

to try to lift the oil price
but today the mkt wasn't so impressed & oil price is down I think & also the shares of BP & Shell

probably gonna be very unstable oil price over coming weeks since consumption fell off a cliff due to the corona crisis lockdown....& supply/demand have yet to stabilise ... future demand vs time is an unknown
