Rising after the results , not many small stocks do that.

Well done holders.

I am still amazed that downing sold out before the results, surely they would have been better to wait...but hey, if they have gone then they had no interest in being here, so goodbye and good riddance

If they can get their paper properly rated, they can then look to do some all share deals, tie key people in with equity - classic buy and build, but hopefully with very good organic growth which is what they are showing at the moment.

Remember a large percentage of the shares are in the hands of a few, free float of shares is low, I will check back on previous announcements, but it doesn't take many trades to move the share price

Fair point, but shows how tightly held and unknown it is as well.

Final results will be out a good 2 months earlier than recent history...hopefully that bodes well

As I say above, they are winding down ALL their investments, I would probably have waited some more, but maybe, let's see, a buyer emerged for half the stake so why not take it off the table as that is their mandate they have? DYOR

I'm new to NBB, I like the statement about £1.25m EBITA in 2025, if they get anywhere near or above that, the net cash IMO should be v. material and EV/Market cap much higher than today!

DYOR

Qs99, thank you for your reply. I am hopeful of a better set of results, having been here for over 10 years, averaging down, and sitting on a large paper loss. Downings timing is strange to say the least. I would have waited if I was them until after results, unless they know something that we don't.

Because 2D as I understand it DSM are winding down their business, so selling ALL the stakes they hold. THAT is problematic for a company of NBB size as a material holding shown to MMs in an illiquid stock could see it halve in value overnight IMO.....desperate seller etc etc....

so offloading it with no material move on share price IMO is a good news story...>DYOR

Now just to offload the other half!

Cheers

surely they would wait till after results, which hopefully are better, the share price rises and then they sell out at a higher price...Maybe I am dim and don't get it, buck to sell out now, males no sense.

qs99, why is this good news, selling at this point just before results is not a good sign.

Some good news. Canaccord have picked up around half of Downing's holding per today's RNSs.

Downing down to 7.28% as a result.

Looks a really interesting tiddler....its net cash should be increasing with its increased EBITDA delivery IMO and if it is on track to deliver £1.25m EBITDA in 2025 one year out, then it is IMO sitting on a very good value EV/EBITDA....it may also look for some M&A, or organic hires to bolster/deliver that EBITDA

Have taken a small position on that basis over last week or so...DYOR

Depends whether it was actually a buy - as you say, if it was it's an odd reaction but it'll be worth checking a couple of dummy quotes in the morning to get a feel for current demand/supply. There could also be a trade not yet reported.

Separately I read on the RFX board that Downing Strategic Microcap fund is selling down completely (hat tip to hpcg) and they hold about 14% here per the Holdings RNS of 22nd Jan so we presumably need another institutional holder to step up and take them.

Could create a buying opportunity if you believe the story here.
