Funny share, this. 45 Boards and no postings, even on a day the share is up 3%.

The loss today seriously exceeds the dividend, but the buys exceed the sells, which is encouraging.

But, as per the ex-divi information above, today's drop has nothing to do with the dividend - so you'll still see a fall on ex-divi day as well!

There is a quite compelling argument that Next is now significantly cheap on a historical basis. But for me, I think Retail (especially 'discretionary') is going to come under a lot of pressure over the next 12-18 months that I would not want to be 'in' now.

In the fullness of time I'm pretty sure that today's price will be proven to be cheap; but I'm equally sure that we'll see even cheaper in the near term.

Just my thoughts (and others will have different views), but that's why I personally am not buying this particular bargain just yet.

The way retail is going in general suggests to me this will be nearer to £20 than £40 by year end, markets are broken, wait til ETF's start selling off, then the market will collapse!

MHR - no one is in a position to tell you definitively , but from the annual results as per the RNS news headlines at the top of this page

"The Board has decided to declare the first of these interim special dividends of 45p per share which will be paid on 2 May 2017. Shares will trade ex-dividend from 6 April 2017 and the record date will be 7 April 2017. Payment of the other three special dividends remain subject to our internal forecasts remaining in line with our guidance ranges and no significant changes in market conditions."

the ex date for the £1.05 is also clearly on the report
"The Board has proposed a final ordinary dividend of 105p, to be paid on 1 August 2017 and taking the total ordinary dividends for the year to 158p, flat on last year. This is subject to approval by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting to be held 18 May 2017. Shares will trade ex-dividend from 6 July 2017 and the record date will be 7 July 2017."
that took me 2 mins to find, don't know why you couldn't!

meanwhile, I actually came on here to see if anyone had any ideas why this has come off 85p just as I was trying to take my capital gains for the year - or have I answered my own question!

Final ordinary dividend 105p, making 158p in total for the year.

There is also the intention to pay four special dividends of 45p each if I remember correctly.

Previous dates here might give some indication as to when to expect them:

Price down 50% in roughly 12 months, a yield of over 4%, PE under 9 and a ROCE of over 60. This is screaming oversold.

jake, agree and it is usually very difficult to buy when the price is being
battered, market does not tend to make it easy to grab a bargain.
