Strange RNS, Haven't they been 'finalizing' the deal for the better part of a year already? Normally you would announce when a deal is closed. Certainly better than the long deafening silence though. Perhaps there is genuine hope, but the terms of the deal will need to be made clear. Still, at long last a 'reason to be moderately cheerful'...

I agree with what you are saying but tbh i was just referring to the fact that their holding has decreased by 5.1m shares and you would have to go back a fair way to tot up 5.1m of trades...

....and that would (wrongly) assume all stock came from BM.

I would just like to shake this (inevitable?) sense of impending gloom that another shafting is on the way.

That would seem to be the case NM, but the 'reporting' is a bit more ambiguous than that. Suppose BM instruct their broker to dispose of ~5m shares. The broker sets about it via multiple trades. The date of the final sell of the disposal (which might be relatively small) which crosses 3% is reported...

"Date of the transaction 09/12/15 and date on which the threshold is crossed"

So the holding 'after' can be relied on, but does the 'before' refer only to the threshold crossing sell, or can it indicate what the broker was originally instructed to sell, or sold up to that point? In either case, the selling (in the market) may have started well before the 9th...

BM sells ~5m shares (~2% of company). This has been going on for quite some time. This latest (timing) may indicate a certain vindictiveness (and I can see why they might feel that way). Does make me wonder though, if they have had a long term plant on the BBs, to encourage others to buy into what they are dumping...
