24/1/2012 10:53 | howdlep Good posts recently .. I totally agree with your comments .. "imo" it all seems pretty obvious what's going on here .. But no doubt as always time will tell ! | paragon157

As holders of both Costain (offeror) and Mouchel (offeree), Henderson were *bound* to issue that RNS... You seem to be implying that particular RNS means Henderson are buying "on behalf of" Costain, which is obviously different to my interpretation ;-) | pikey01
24/1/2012 10:07 | There are a lot of variables, so timings are difficult. However, there will clearly be a lot of publicity when David Shearer formally takes over as Chairman in February, so expect to see another FT article by Gill Plimmer. I personally am keeping a close watch on the holding RNS' of both Schroders and Henderson, as well as any huge X trade transactions that may go through. Schroders will continue to reduce their position and I expect Henderson to be the buyers. Now if a bid is coming, I wouldn't expect Schroders to sell right down, as the upside of a successful bid would be huge. In the meantime, expect to see more updates re contract wins as we await the benefits of Shearer's restructuring to take affect. | howdlep
24/1/2012 09:53 | Hi howdlep...when are we expecting news? is it due shortly? tia | pre
24/1/2012 08:41 | mulebraker, you didn't answer my question. Are you saying that Henderson are currently buying for themselves or another third party, other than Costain? its a simple question. FWIW I believe that Henderson are again buying for Costain. It is most certainly plausible as its a FACT that they have acted as an agent for Costain in the past. | howdlep
24/1/2012 08:31 | Well if you have to go back 9 months to c&p "proof" its time you got up to date! | mulebraker
24/1/2012 08:23 | As for the proof that Henderson are buying on behalf of Costain, this is good enough for me. Or are you saying Henderson are now buying for themselves or perhaps another third party? | howdlep
24/1/2012 08:11 | We all have an agenda to make money. However, those that are short, or who want to get in at lower prices, like to give the impression that they are doing misguided bulls a favour. That may scare off one or two, but the vast majority are perfectly capable of making a decision that is in keeping with their own risk/reward strategy. The end game here will not be decided by the likes of you and I, but by Shearer, Schroders, Henderson et al. However, the market will buy in in huge volumes if it believes a bid is coming. Time will tell. | howdlep
24/1/2012 08:00 | Show me the proof Costain are buying, otherwise do reel in your sarcasm- it really is the lowest form of argument, if not wit! Agenda-duh? making money, whats yours? | mulebraker
24/1/2012 07:55 | mulebraker, Is that a fact Costain "find it aint worth buying even at this level"? Do I hear a resounding Hear, Hear? Hmm agendas, agendas. Lets see how it plays out shall we. On a risk/reward basis this is an excellent opportunity. All imo of course | howdlep
24/1/2012 07:46 | Surely the point is that Costain offered exponentially more than the share price as it rests now,and NOW, despite its huge fall, and after drilling deep, find it ` aint worth buying even at this price? | mulebraker

When did that (the bit about "Henderson adding on behalf of Costain") become a "fact"? AFAICT that is pure supposition. ...and what new "borrowing limit"? The shareholders may have agreed they can ask the banks for more money (i.e try and get another credit card to pay off the existing one. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear), but so far the banks haven't actually green-lighted (sp?) that idea. DO you work there? Just asking as you seem to be ramping this every day... | pikey01
23/1/2012 22:56 | KNIGEL Very true .. Spot on ! | paragon157
23/1/2012 21:38 | Tomorrow will be the 24th of January 2012......You can check the following yourself, I have just 'whizzed' through the last ten years of RNS's... to July 2002..(without reprogramming the machine...that's as far back as I can go).and there's not a single month in those ten years that an rns of some description has not been announced..(1240 in all)...Februarys should be interesting. | htrocka
23/1/2012 20:05 | The BOD won't be able to defend a takeover offer circ 20-25p this time... | knigel
23/1/2012 13:23 | Starting to pick up though plenty of buys. Silly market capt at present & huge upside. | johncraven
23/1/2012 12:43 | Tip Top "imo" .. I think Costain would be mad not to be accumulating at this sort of share price level with as mentioned previously only around 112 Million Shares currently in issue "If" they are interested in taking out MCHL at some stage .. No doubt time will tell as always on the matter. | paragon157
23/1/2012 12:25 | howdlep I'm with you on the Costain side of things ! | paragon157
23/1/2012 12:11 | £152m or 135p a share.... Could keep accumulating shares at these prices (a 20th of what they previously offered) and then take them out.... ? | tip top
23/1/2012 12:06 | Costain previously went for Mouchel at ... what price? | tip top
23/1/2012 12:01 | Wat kind of price wud u expect a bid at? | janbonk
23/1/2012 11:21 | looks like only myself is interested in a Costain bid for MCHL? | howdlep |
