AughtonShort selling is not illegal. For you to say that suggests a real lack of investment knowledge.

AughtonChill out. This is the markets. Anything goes. If you believe institutions are whiter than white, I suggest you look at the history if placings

If you want to see what may happen here then take a look at SEE. They raised money at 5.5p some months ago. The mid price is now 4.35p with many holders sat on a fat losses

Of course this is all in the absence of news. Should excellent news be forthcoming then all bets are off

AughtonNo need to fear for me. You obviously don't know how the markets work or are very naive if you think institutions don't forward sell.Within a week to two weeks , and you can quote this post back to me, and we will see who is right, as long as there is no news within the same period this will be at the placing price price or below. Everyone's entitled to a differing view.

50p placing is nowhere near the massive discounted placings that happen regular on the AIM Casino so I take that as a big confidence vote.

And to secure £22m is excellent. Underpins the share price from here.

HenleyU don't need a holding to go short at 70p.U "sell" at a price and then "buy" to close the trade. The "buy" comes in at their placing shares at 50p....so they could have sold risk free at 70p and gone short. Knowing they had a buy in place at 50p.

Who cares what happens to MTFB and AMP TODAY !
My advice is to focus on the story and the product and it's potential and try not to watch what the share price does every other minute. After all it's a bit sad right ?

The antibiotic crisis story will see this make huge gains over the next several years even BEFORE they treat a single person.

They didn't have a holding prior to this placing!

HenleyIt's not selling. It's banking 10p plus on each share, knowing you are getting shares at 50p.They probably forward sold x millions at 70p....knowing they will get those x millions back at 50p.No risk attached and they have their original holding

AughtonThe chances are they've forward sold short at 70p.

Aughton think you're right. If they fall to 50p in the first couple of hours trading I'll buy more and I'm sure many people are thinking the same.

They must be confident of gaining QIDP status from the FDA

Interesting that all bar 200K placing shares went to the three big IIs, presumably the other 200K went as part payment of fees.

PIs didn't get a look in this time (unlike the IPO).

RegI doubt 30p is coming. But the placing price...yes. The II will sell at todays price or earlier when they knew a placing was going to happen. They will get their placing shares to close their position and be flat.My view is it will at least touch the placing price. AMP will take a hit on its share price too

Yes, can expect a small dip to start with but this placing will underpin the price,

I certainly don't think I will get the chance to buy more of these at around the 30p mark.

TimboCouple of points on the placing.Agreed the price will go to the placing price or dip below it. As forward selling will happen by institutions, and they can bank a bit if profit before they get their shares.Secondly, none of the directors or management team took any more of the 44m. I think most management teams would have wanted to add to their individual bundles.

On balance this morning's RNS is very good news for long term investors.

There will no doubt be a drop in the share price in the short term, but who cares?

It should underpin the share price at 50p and strengthen Motif's negotiating position with potential partners.
