Agree 100% with the above poster - always, always have a stop less set 10%-20% below your purchase price regardless of research or your gut feel. If the price tanks but you're still confident of a win, you can always buy back in but ensure you know the full reason for the decline and that it is definitely reversible.

However you should be fine here. MONY have great growth prospects and is a good example of a 'Zulu' share looking ahead to FY13 and FY14, with potential special dividends to come on top. Broker consensus is still resolute for FY13 and FY14 therefore the long term prospects here seem secure, pending further updates from the company.

The share price has found support at 190p and is moving back up steadily so we should be back at 205-210p resistance levels relatively soon. Given the increase in EBITDA, the re-rated PE and the EPS forecast growth, 220p is my 6 month target here which feels sensible, unless there's a huge FTSE pullback or a -ve statement.

(PS: Don't forget this goes ex-Div on 20th March so we'll see a c. 4p pullback on this date)

I wouldnt panic stevietees because even at 180 you should see support

you can have a stop loss planned for say 178p and you should only loose 10% by selling if it falls to there.

on the other hand you will be in for the next rise if your stop is not hit... plan your trades like this and dont fret too much be confident in your research (if you done any) and dont be afraid to cut loosers that go wrong

Looks like I made a noob mistake and bought on the strength of the results while everyone else is cashing in! I'm no expert but the chart looks like it could fall to 180 before hitting resistance??

Feel like I'm the only one here!! Pretty gnarly pull back today but a few brokers have come out with Hold recs, which may explain it. Average target amongst brokers is still c. 200 though and I'm being bullish on this as the FY2013 forecast is considerably strong.

Happy to hold here following good results and the company having excellent prospects. 220p seems a reasonable short-mid term target based on fundamentals and forecast EPS growth.

Very strong results, pretty much smack in line with expectations. Fantastic divi growth, cash balances and board confident of "another record year".

Results due on Tuesday. Key bits to look for:

Consensus EBITDA Forecast: £61m (£27m FY11)
Consensus Revenue Forecast: £205m (£181m FY11)
Consensus EPS Forecast: 4.2p (3.2p FY11)

All brokers seem in line with these numbers, which if proved correct would see a re-rating to c. PE 15 and over 20% EPS growth. Only one broker (Numis) seems to think otherwise, with their EBITDA forecast at £30m - I have no idea where this has come from, seems completely out of kilter with everything else.

GL all holding. If the results come in as per above and a special dividend is issued, we should be in for a good week.

All imo/dyor.

Stock was overdone 20% up I took all but my profit off the table but happy to buy back in when the FTSE/DOW gives a chart signal reversal from this sell off.

Good buying opp at these levels. Cannot understand why the movement is so severe based on what appears to be absolutely no news. Looks like the MMs are trying to take advantage of today's general pullback.

The fundamentals here remain incredibly strong unless anyone can find new news to the contrary.

Classic tree shake looking at level 2. Also the fact that they are happy to buy more from you than sell to you. Ignore, would be surprised if it doesn't return later.

Any reason for the 5% drop on open today? Seems a bit severe/odd.

Another good bit of coverage in today's Shares magazine, reinforcing the N+1 Singer research showing that a 6.6p divi / 10p special divi could be due, keeping MONY in a comfortable net cash position.

Feels very exciting at the moment. And I'm pretty sure they can't be implicated in any horse meat scandals either - happy days!

Wouldn't be unreasonable to expect further distributions, the BoD have intimated it is their continued intention. Given the ease with which mony could be taken off us if SN were agreeable to a takeover I am guessing distributions may keep him happy for the meantime, pure speculation but playing out so far. GLAH.

Shares mag have rated this a Buy in their latest issue. They also seem to think a special dividend of 10p may be on the way, citing recent Broker estimates.

I'm happy to hold despite the Broker targets. Only recently did JP Morgan and Credit Suisse break the 200p barrier - prior to this most had this at 150/160p when it was trading at 170p plus. Results dependent, there should be some share price upgrades on the next round of results.

Trading is going well, there's an HMRC rebate to go into the numbers plus the company is now cash rich, so it looks good. I'm hoping for another special Divi personally but that might be a stretch too far..

All IMO.

I'm getting a nosebleed at these highs, been a holder since IPO and the dividends have been decent. Its now the time to think whether to keep holding, sell the original stake off or just sell the lot.

Worrying that the broker target isnt that much higher than the current share price.
