THE TORY PARTY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR NEGLECT:

Judgment

1 By its action, the European Commission asks the Court to declare that:

– by not ensuring that the waters collected in a combined urban waste waters and rainwater system in the Gowerton and Llanelli agglomerations are retained and conducted for treatment, in compliance with the requirements of Council Directive 91/271/EEC of 21 May 1991 concerning urban waste-water treatment (OJ 1991 L 135, p. 40), the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (‘the United Kingdom’) has failed to fulfil its obligations under Articles 3, 4 and 10 of, and Sections A and B of Annex I to, that directive;

– by either not putting in place secondary or equivalent treatment or not providing sufficient evidence to demonstrate compliance in this respect with Directive 91/271 with regard to the Banchory, Stranraer and Ballycastle agglomerations as well as by not subjecting the urban waste water in the Gibraltar agglomeration to any treatment, the United Kingdom has failed to fulfil its obligations under Article 4 of, and Sections B and D of Annex I to, Directive 91/271; and

– by not ensuring that urban waste water entering collecting systems from the Tiverton, Durham (Barkers Haugh), Chester-le-Street, Islip, Broughton Astley, Chilton, Witham and Chelmsford agglomerations, before discharge into sensitive areas, be subject to more stringent treatment than that described in Article 4 of Directive 91/271, in accordance with the requirements of Section B of Annex I to that directive, the United Kingdom has failed to fulfil its obligations under Article 5 of, and Sections B and D of Annex I to, Directive 91/271.

SW --- thanks for that.

I'm hoping this is reactivated with UK losing the legal battle

NB, from the govt reaction to the court case decision.

HM Government of Gibraltar notes the judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union on
the treatment of sewage in Gibraltar. The judgment concerns not only Gibraltar but also other
urban agglomerations of the United Kingdom.

The lack of sewage treatment has long been an issue, and it was not until the present Government
was elected that serious steps were taken to resolve this. A tender was issued and a preferred
bidder identified. This followed a great deal of work in ensuring that the technology was suitable.

The fact that Gibraltar’s sewage is carried in salt water, and that in periods of rain this is greatly
diluted meant that the system used had to work for a wider range of conditions than is the norm.

This took a great deal of time to resolve. At present discussions on the funding model for the plant
are in an advanced stage and the government will be making a full announcement soon.

The problem with CFD's and short traders is they can cause a false spike because when a bet is closed the money in the bet auto buys stock which is then sold quickly to close a deal. If a number of shorter's close at the same time a false rise is created.

So far, based on observations the shorter's have cleared off. That might account for the early morning volatility.

I believe that when directors buy stock their is a regulatory waiting period of 30 days before news can be released. That should take us to the end of this week or the beginning of next.

After the waiting period news can drop in at any time imo.

Markets eventually restore price to a fundamentals valuation - hype and news flow will cause volatility but if Modern Water report increased profits and EPS then these will rise on a more permanent basis

iT MAY BE SAID THAT THE mm'S HAVE AT TIMES BEEN OUT OF SYNC WITH THE GENERAL MARKET. Hence, perhaps some manipulation characterized by fast retraces during buying cycles.

This stock could easily bounce quite fast on fairly small buying activity off the lower resistance of about 16p and currently upper resistance circ: 22p imo.

The UK Gov knew about their dirty water containing thousands of viruses/ liter some 30 years ago. They should have been given a huge fine and exposed for humanitarian neglect.

SO A RESOUNDING 'YES' TO THAT SW.

THIS IS WHAT SOMEONE SAID ON THE LSE THREAD REGARDING GIBRALTOR.

Have we had Government planning approval on the Gibraltar wastewater treatment plantation JV with Northumbrian water yet? I see it's worth 22milion

That is likely where I saw the info.

For the purpose of clarity and accuracy I have asked the company about any outstanding Tenders for contracts. And will let the thread know if a reply is received.

Well worth visiting the website:

The business looks way under valued imo.

Modern Water plc Sale of Seawater Desalination Technology in China

Modern Water plc (AIM:MWG), the owner of world-leading technologies for water and wastewater treatment and for water quality monitoring, announces that it has secured a sale of its proprietary Forward Osmosis ("FO") technology for seawater desalination to Hangzhou Water Treatment Technology Development Center Co. Ltd ("Hangzhou Water") in China.

The Company will license its patented FO technology and provide its extensive engineering know-how to Hangzhou Water, for use in a new 500m3/day seawater desalination plant, to be built at the Shengsi Seawater Desalination Base on Sijiao Island.

Hangzhou Water is one of the region's leading providers of water desalination and through its ultimate parent, the China National Chemical Corporation, is part-owned by the Chinese government.

Modern Water will receive licence fees in the short term; and commissioning fees for supervising commissioning of the plant; as well as selling Hangzhou Water specialised equipment and spares on a long term basis. Hangzhou Water anticipates that the new desalination plant will be completed and commissioned into service in early 2018.

This is the first example of Modern Water's platform FO process being deployed in China. In this case, the innovative technology is being used to produce desalinated water, where, compared to conventional processes, it will reduce membrane fouling and as a result, require less energy consumption. The process inherently produces a high quality product water on a long term basis, with a double membrane barrier between the seawater and the desalinated water. These advantages reduce the operating costs for Hangzhou Water, as well as helping to mitigate any environmental impact of the operation.

Simon Humphrey, CEO of Modern Water, commented: "The first sale of our Forward Osmosis desalination system in China, to an organization of Hangzhou Water's calibre, represents exciting progress for us. We believe it is proof that our revised strategy to license our membrane technologies to high-quality industrial partners in key geographies is paying off. Furthermore, it is a pleasing recognition of the benefits that our unique technology can generate in this globally important field. This deal, together with the other transactions recently announced, give us confidence the Membrane division will meet this year's market forecasts.

"We look forward to working with Hangzhou Water on this project and will continue to pursue further opportunities to commercialise the innovative technology we have created."
