“With an un-geared balance sheet, a cash generative Monitoring division, the Membrane division expected to break even in 2018 and a trade finance facility secured, we believe the Group now has the resources in place to become a genuinely sustainable, profitable business.”

We shall see, but a placing needs to happen at some stage. Always happy to hear both sides and wish both those long or those scratching their heads the best

The share price rise is part of a recovery being delivered by management under a review commenced in 2015, as indicated by the recent positive news flow on a variety of fronts and management's own confidence expressed by recently buying stock. Clients have transparency of seeing MWG delivering on contracts across divisions, revenues growing, costs being reduced, and a £500k trade finance facility in place which they could draw on (but of which you seem unaware). The possibility of Gibralter is still in it for free and would be transformational if it goes ahead. If you have doubts I suggest you wait until next year to buy-in but I think you will have to pay a lot more.

hottingup - but even the management, who have much better visibility than you or I, would scratching their heads at this spike in the share price They aren't even expecting to breakeven in the current year and that's at a company level. Shame they didn't show us the working cap side in the cash flow statement, as debtors seem to be taking a long time to collect. Currently have around £880k in cash, which even with a small factoring facility is unnerving. If I was looking to become a client of Modern's I would like to see a much healthier balance sheet, thus I suspect a placing. How is it going to commit to a large project, with upfront costs, with hardly enough cash to keep the lights on. If it have a few million in its bank account, I would be more comfortable with the current valuation. A placing at 12p would be a result for the management IMHO

smithless the figures will be even better next time (just as those in March were better than the previous ones) so its a pointless exercise looking backwards now they are on a clear growth path.

dont be out of this. I expect a lot more good news from India about the AMBC.

From last year 21/3/2016 ----

Joint commercialisation agreement with Advent Envirocare regarding brine concentration for wastewater treatment in India....for the joint development and commercialisation of Modern Water's proprietary all membrane brine concentration (AMBC) technology which will be applied to wastewater treatment plants across India.
....The integration of Modern Water's brine concentration technologies substantially reduces both the capital costs and, in particular, the operating costs necessary.
....the parties are jointly funding and deploying a pilot test plant at an operational wastewater treatment site in India and will complete testing by the end of 2016. ....the plant will demonstrate to the customer the full economic and process advantages of the technology, specifically, the significant reduction of waste water volume for subsequent brine crystalliser treatment at low operational cost compared to existing processes.

Simon Humphrey, CEO, Modern Water, said: "....This project will clearly demonstrate the benefits of Modern Water's approach and will allow us to promote our brine concentration technology throughout the world."

Soham Mehta, Managing Director, "....at a time when Advent Envirocare is executing some of the largest ZLD projects in India, the stage is set for this partnership to flourish."

15/3/2017 ----

Chairman's Statement
" it was very pleasing to announce the award of a contract in February 2017 for the provision of our proprietary All Membrane Brine Concentration (AMBC) technology. Our innovative AMBC technology will be used to treat wastewater produced by an India-based customer involved in the textiles industry. The project will be executed in partnership with Advent Envirocare Technology during the course of 2017. Once commissioned, this plant will provide us with a fantastic shop window for our technology and will provide us with a springboard into other markets and geographies."

All Membrane Brine Concentrator (AMBC)

"In March 2016 Modern Water signed a joint development and commercialisation agreement with Advent Envirocare Technology, based in India. Following successful piloting of the technology in December 2016, the first commercial order was secured rapidly. In early February 2017 an agreement was reached to deploy our technology in a textile dye facility. A second AMBC trial in a different industrial sector is scheduled to commence in India later this year."

top tips - the membrane division lost £1.3m for YE 2016 and that was before its share of central costs, so say £1.8m. On a company which generated total revenues of £3.6m i would say that's heavily loss making.

Companies like MWG that have clear and achievable review strategies to put the business back on track usually yield very large and low risk gains. With orders now building and costs being cut this could easily be back above 140p.

Good opportunity presented itself and it looks like some of the doubt creators bought back their shares also.

Either that or it was a fishing expedition by the market makers who were getting low on stock.

Probably a combination of both

I think some posters are trying to creates some doubt or get others to cash in recent gains so as to enable them to buy or rebuy at a lower price. It has only served to assist market makers trickery today. There were plenty buyers yesterday at 17p and above. I personally think its worth more so shall remain static and shall take advantage of any opportunities that prevail.

Nothing here is "heavily" loss making and the company runs quite frugally. The membrane div will be in profit next year or sooner if the orders gather pace. The point is the chart indicates a rapid gap up now they are back on track. Very few shares in issue and many tightly held bu management including recent buys. If you wait to buy until they are in group profit the price will already be over £1.

With the sort of gain seen over the last few days, I would be locking in profits, standing back for a while and see how the story pans out. It membrane division is still heavily loss making even if at does get some material wins.
