Something doesnt sit right, Chimes wouldnt just up and quit if there were no problems.
Looks to me like its a personality thang!!

Miton picks Jackson to replace Godber and Hamilton
Miton Group has appointed Andrew Jackson to manage its top-performing UK Value Opportunities +
fund, following the departure of managers George Godber and Georgina Hamilton to join rival fund group Polar Capital.

Formerly Citywire AAA-rated Jackson, who joins Miton on 27 June, was most recently at Ecclesiastical Investment Management (now EdenTree) which he left in July 2015. There he managed the UK Equity Growth +
fund, which was taken over by Robin Hepworth and Susan Round, director of group investments, upon his departure. Jackson had managed the fund since 2003.

Prior to Ecclesiastical, his career included spells at Société; Générale Asset Management, Lloyds Investment Managers and Canada Life.

Miton was rocked by the news of Godber and Hamilton's departure last month, with the pair responsible for around a third of the fund group's assets and having delivered strong returns. Since launch in March 2013 the fund has returned 56.7%, well ahead of the 18.3% average for the UK All Companies sector. Shares in the fund group are down 24% since the pair announced their exit.

Miton managing director Gervais Williams commented: 'Andrew has all of the strengths for the role, including a record of impressive returns over an extended period. He is very well suited to taking a leadership role on the Miton UK Value Opportunities Fund, given the fund already has a history of delivering attractive returns, with stock weightings that are largely independent of the mainstream indices.

'At Miton we have a history of recruiting fund managers who can excel within our genuinely active investing culture.'

Peel Hunt reiterated their 42p target this morning alongside the new fund manager Andrew Jackson appointment, which sounds ok to me.

Fan of Gervais and his style here.

In theory, Miton keeps in touch with investee companies, as far the rules permit.

But there are a few bad stocks where Miton slipped up.

My (minority) view is that Miton needs more indians (analysts) to help avoid these recent banana skins alongside seeking more chiefs (fund managers) and expanding FUM.

Nevertheless, I have already invested after the price fall.

Well things have gone downhill fast in 2014 for Miton. Such a shame as they were doing so well in 2012 and 2013. They seem to have had two problems;
- the Founder of PSigma leaving and funds being withdrawn.
- Martin Gray going and then losing significant special situations funds.
Not the clearest of announcements, but working the maths FUM are now £2bn versus £2.6bn at 30 June and £3bn at the start of the year.
Hopefully, their remaining strategies and investment trusts are more secure.
Looking to top-up here now as I do rate Miton as a good small company manager.
Will not attempt to catch a falling knife though and so will await a bit of flattening-off in the share price

Gervais needs to manage more funds in my view. Miton doesn't appear to be able to retain other top quartile asset managers. Polar Capital do this much better. Anyway, still good prospects for Miton if they can focus on what they are good at. Happy to hold.

Investors Chronicle’s Simon Thompson suggested a lot will depend on who Miton hires as replacement fund managers.

“Clearly, this is a blow and it’s only reasonable to expect some of Miton’s clients in its CF UK Value Opportunities strategy fund to follow Mr Godber and Ms Hamilton to their new employer in due course. In terms of damage limitation for the fund itself the key will be finding a credible replacement in order to win the support of existing clients to stem the flow.

"I would also flag up that Miton is not a one trick pony and other funds have been showing strong momentum too. The CF Miton UK Multi Cap Income Fund saw significant inflows last year as AUM increased from £378m to £586m by the December year end. The Miton UK MicroCap Trust (MINI) which raised gross proceeds of £50m at launch on 30 April 2015, and a further £28m subsequently, has proved a rewarding investment too.”

Big volume this morning - almost 900% of the average 3 month daily volume and it's still only 10.25am ! Had a nibble myself at this price.

I think so. Bought some at 25p and 26p. He has a 12 month notice period and it's likely they'll find as good a name to take over in that timeframe.

Well unusual price activity today. Price goes up. Announcement close of play saying two of their fund managers are leaving. Going to see a bit of a re- trace tomorrow- looks like disappointing news rather than good! Not the first time they have lost a star manager unfortunately. This group is all about Gervais Williams fortunately!

Ditto to those comments, just slightly miffed from a purely selfish point of view as I penned a piece on Miton after speaking with Gervais last week.
Easter break has put it back a week which means the share price is somewhat different!

Surprised no posts since the result announcement which was better than expectation........hence share price up considerably!
