12/2/2016 21:50 | Hi topvest I've put a link to this BB in the header of the MWGT thread | praipus
14/1/2016 19:20 | A very encouraging update today. Very pleased. | topvest
14/1/2016 12:07 | It is some time since I looked at the scheme but I recall it was complicated and I didn't understand it That usually, especially in a company like Miton, means it is very advantageous to management | sleepy
14/1/2016 09:46 | Good point sleepy. As far as I can tell dilution from the various schemes should not be that material and are limited but you are right, it is a factor to take into account. | sspurt
14/1/2016 08:50 | Complicated but very beneficial share scheme for management I think. Would need to be taken into account in valuation | sleepy
14/1/2016 08:36 | This is cheap - good update today, strong growth in FUM. If you strip out the £15m cash pile MGR currently valued at 1% of FUM. Its the wrong multiple period. | sspurt
21/10/2015 15:19 | Miton bought 8pc of TECH today... | jakleeds
20/10/2015 20:40 | "In turn, might this make the marketing of Miton's income funds more difficult ?" I think there are two potential approaches here. The first is that MITON, as well as other large investors, could impress on small dividend payers that there are likely consequences of cutting dividend payouts. As an example, Falkland Island Holdings cut its dividend and the share price dropped around 25%. Directors might prefer to keep their dividends with increased tax than see their company share price decimated? The second, if the alternative is share buy backs, is to educate investors that buy backs have ALWAYS been better value for income investors, precisely because of the tax treatment of dividends. (No need to take my word for it..... Warren Buffet has made exactly that point.) BWDIK. | the millipede
27/7/2015 05:40 | coolen - I see I didn't answer the right question before - sorry. You have a point there, though if there's a buyer in a thin market (the company itself), it should be easy to dispose of shares to meet the demand and maintain the same percentage stake. I don't know! | jonwig
26/7/2015 18:50 | Miton has stakes in a number of small companies where directors have large family holdings -the very guys the dividend tax aims to hit. If so, might these companies switch emphasis from dividend payments to distributing cash through share buy-backs etc.? In turn, might this make the marketing of Miton's income funds more difficult ? | coolen
25/7/2015 05:57 | coolen - *dividends paid by equity funds will be part of your overall dividend income, and taxed according to the rules (£5,000 annualallowance, etc.). The fund won't be paying the tax, so there'll be no double taxation. If you have "accumulation units" in an OEIC, they will be taxed as notional dividends. *I'm open to correction on all of this. | jonwig
24/7/2015 21:41 | How might the new "dividend tax" affect their income funds ? | coolen
23/7/2015 19:33 | Yes, a mild downgrade or profit warning whichever way you look at it. They do have the right sort of products though and AUM are starting to grow again. The new European Fund in H2 looks interesting. Still think this is a great little fund management group that should prosper over the medium term. Definitely a buy anywhere near 20p in my view. | topvest
23/7/2015 14:10 | good fund momentum, but a bit of a downgrade here. | oregano
30/4/2015 07:05 | Miton UK Microcap [MINI] thread: | jonwig
28/4/2015 16:32 | Good news I think as they have raised £50m which is not bad at all. | topvest
25/4/2015 10:04 | Bit of weakness over the last day or two. Just wondering whether they have failed to get the new trust launched with the Woodford Trust closing a week earlier. My cheque hasn't been banked which looks ominous to me ahead of the Monday closing and Tuesday announcement. It will be a shame if they don't get there as looks a good proposition. | topvest
22/4/2015 18:43 | Yes, I've gone for the new trust. Went for Woodford's trust as well, but prefer the new Miton trust. | topvest
22/4/2015 09:59 | The Miton Micro-Cap IT is open for subscription, and looks a very worthwhile proposition. Unfortunately, it may fall short of full raising, with all the fuss over Woodford's offering. I passed on Woodford, went for Miton. | jonwig
13/4/2015 07:39 | Marvelous growth potential GW is amongst the best. | a2584728
13/4/2015 07:23 | Fantastic news at TECH this morning, contributing to this morning's rise here I'm sure!! | jakleeds
10/4/2015 19:21 | Nice to see this bounce back. | topvest
09/4/2015 13:33 | Nice write up in the Daily Mail for Gervais | a2584728
07/4/2015 18:03 | Fair enough but Simon Thompson was a bit late in. It was a fantastic opportunity a month or two back. Hopeful this will multi- bag from here over the medium term. The group is well run and have some good credentials in the small cap an AIM market. | topvest |
