24/4/2019 11:06 | On MAB the best you can say is balance sheet debt has been reduced by £1 billion
since 2008, helped by disposals admittedly. And their freeholds are around 88%.
Once the huge pension recovery payments end they may have more financial
leeway, however that's another 4 years away - and it's likely we will have another
recession before then.
I can't see significant upside tbh, my view may be too cautious. | essentialinvestor
23/4/2019 22:20 | MARS and MAB? The two stinkers in the sector? I imagine this is a 'recovery' strategy! | jeffian
23/4/2019 14:37 | Here - primarily yes.
I'm looking for a second company in the sector having held MARS for years. I've been kicking myself over GNK which I intended to buy in December, but for one reason or another - except for a couple of spread bets - I didn't. | skinny
23/4/2019 13:18 | Skinny, you're looking from a TA perspective mainly ?. | essentialinvestor
23/4/2019 12:38 | Thanks - laziness on my part! | skinny
23/4/2019 12:36 | Besides the net debt, the pension recovery plan is what strikes me.
£48 million a year through to 2023 in agreed pension funding payments.
That's a large chunk of pre tax profits. | essentialinvestor
23/4/2019 12:19 | Any views here? | skinny
21/1/2019 12:26 | Miss Womble - See post 515, it's the only reason I'm a shareholder. Bit peeved because my most regular pub is currently closed and being converted to an Ego. | kingl

12/1/2018 14:15 | Yes, I had an extremely tough steak at a Harvester. Even with 20% off it's not great, I hope the share price will be as resilient as their steaks | spreadsheetsteve
12/1/2018 11:20 | From today's update "We continue to make good progress with our plans to build a more balanced estate, in particular premiumising our offers where possible"
By "premiumising" their offer I suppose they mean more of the Miller and Carter brand. They certainly charge a premium price for their steaks but the T-bone I had in one of their outlets over the holidays was rubbish. They could make a start by premiumising the quality of their meat. | gwr7
