Not only are Mitchells and Butlers is a sound soild growing business ,above £3 it a CHART BREAKOUT.
Our portfolio has too many brands and we need an even sharper focus than was
suggested in the recent analysts' presentation.

We will grow our food-led mid-market brands. We want to develop smaller
footprint high street variants of Harvester and Toby Carvery. We want to open
new outlets in leisure parks and other high traffic locations such as retail
parks with good car parking. We will seek through conversion, acquisition and
new site development to build scale in other core brands. To illustrate, we
believe the following brands have significant scale potential as shown below:

Nationalised lender Anglo Irish Bank is set to control about 200 pubs in the UK after one of its biggest borrowers in the British pub trade went into administration.

London Town Plc, which delisted from the AIM market last month, has been placed in administration after failing to deal with breaches of its loan agreements. It either owns, manages or operates 350 pubs.

things look promising.
up over 6% this morning.

as a long term holder i had to comment.
endless comment every day about rbs or lloy, both very sick companies.

Shareholders in Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) have been urged not to lend their holdings in the pub operator before a showdown vote on the election of four directors put forward by rebel investors.

In what is thought to be an unprecedented joint statement, two leading shareholder bodies also called on their members to reclaim any M&B stock out on loan to hedge funds and other traders as soon as is practically possible.

I'm no longer a shareholder in MAB (I sold out of Wetherspoons and MAB to buy Green King and Marstons instead), but nethertheless, I found this article in the London Evening Standard (concerning the largest MAB shareholder, Joe Lewis) rather interesting, well worth a read.

Troubled pubs group Pubs'n'Bars has asked for trading in its shares to be suspended while it sorts out its financial position. Market makers have taken the view that this is not a good sign for similarly stretched sector peers such as Punch Taverns

Very good statement. No rights issue and improved like for like sales. Back above 300 today :)
