Buys at 280p. 61.8% Fib correction now completed. Still good growth on a PE 9.4

scotsman recently "Front Page
Recruitment specialist Michael Page International posted a 38.5 per cent rise in profits to a record £89.1 million in the three months to the end of September.

The company, which specialises in high-margin professional and permanent staffing, said the UK had experienced good levels of activity across all its operations while, notwithstanding the recent turbulence in specific banking sectors, global demand for staff remained strong."

anyone still following this? seems to be losing 5% a day for no reason other than they are recruitment agents in the financial sector.

i bought when they issued their last results back in september. i had two days of blue and have been red ever since. :(

Aren't they opening a big new site in Canary Wharf and the recent update was pretty good - I can't understand the plunge, apart from fear in the market.

Matthew, the business of MPI and Robert Walters are heavily geared to the Banking Sector. This is in the doldrums for the moment. My view is that now is a time to get out of these stocks. Sentiment is against recruitment in the Banking Sector, regardless of the progressive nature of these companies. Note Robert Walters himself sold a shedload of shares in his own company about 6 months ago.

If this summer proves to be the top of the recruitment market then Michael Page would indeed appear to be overvalued. Sentiment certainly suggests that banking and professional recruitment have passed their peak and there is a strong likelihood of MPI being unable to meet its 2008 forecast of 38.31p.

It is only against this forecast that MPI look good value. If this forecast falls away I would expect the price to head back down to c.£3.

BTW the worst thing for any market is an overwhelmingly positive view in which dissenting voices are sidelined. That leads to overvalued stocks and eventual disappointment.

I just think to make profit at other peoples expense is filth....like shorting on betfair it destabilises the integrety of the market and often the stock exchange particularly in aim.

I know others strongly dont agree ..........but I think people who do it are vermin

Its like I would alwasy prefer to win £5 from William Hill than £10 from my mates at Poker

Dont worry its nothing personal just my view

Yes take that you shroters !! Why is it evil to bet a price may go down instead of up ? Have I made any negative comments about MPI ? BTW I'm overwhelmingly long of various stocks with a mixture of certificates, nominees and spread bets.
